It would also make a great baby or toddler monitor for a fraction of the price of traditional ones. The app is very simple to use — it takes a screenshot of the room every so often and records whenever motion or a person is detected. You can also watch live through the app, which works really smoothly. It’s compatible with Alexa skills too, which is a nice bonus. The sound quality is clear both ways — you can hear and talk through the app with no issues. The image quality is great, even in lower light. Just be aware there is a subscription service with Ring if you want to save or review recordings later. It was very easy to set up and comes with everything you need, including screws if you want to mount it. I didn’t want to drill into the wall, so I used some double-sided mounting tape (purchased separately), and it’s been perfectly secure. There’s also a little flap you can turn to physically shut off the camera view when you want extra privacy, which is a thoughtful touch. Overall, a brilliant, reliable camera — simple, effective, and well worth the money.

A: No, only when it picks up motion for the length of time you have the settings on

A: Yes, I have mine in my bedroom window pointing out

**Q: Is this suitable as a baby monitor? Is there night vision and sound on it?**
A: No, it's not suitable. Baby monitors are always on continuous monitoring (video a d sound in), however this cuts off feed every 10 minutes, and this is by design, it's supposedly "not designed for continuous monitoring" according to the Ring itself. You could rely on motion alerts, but that means every change of position your little one makes would give you an alert, and you would have to interact with each to load preview to see, and hear what's going on.

**Q: Is this suitable to keep an eye on my dog whilst out? Is it motion activated or would I be able to view live even if he’s asleep?**
A: The camera can be configured for different types of motion - but you can check on a live-feed at any time.

Brilliant camera. Easy to install. Gives a perfect picture and covers a wide area. You get a trial subscription which helps capturing things when you are away from the area. I would recommend this product.
