Kyocera Advanced Ceramic Horizontal Y Peeler, Black -

I am surprised that Kyocera, a company known for copiers/printers and photographic equipment also makes culinary tools. The Advanced CERAMIC Y PEELER is pretty amazing! This is the first time that I have used a peeler and good to know that I picked a good one. I easily peeled apples for smoothies and potatoes for home fries. The CERAMIC Y PEELER works effortlessly with a very sharp blade. The handle is easy to hold, grips nicely and the peeler does not move around. The blade is easy to clean and the peeler is easy to store. I like that this peeler is lightweight, non-corrosive, and lightweight. The non-corrosive blade will not rust or cause food to turn brown. There are two-sided eye corers to remove any fruit or vegetable imperfections, this helped with peeling potatoes. Having experienced other Kycocera technologies, there is no doubt that the CERAMIC Y PEELER is a quality product.

Sharp and comfortable.

Very easy to peel with. Sharp, but I’m cutting myself less since I don’t have to apply as much force as I did with previous peeler. Dishwasher safe is an added bonus

These are great. I always keep one extra on hand. After several years of frequent use they aren't quite as sharp , so I buy a new one.

There are several good things about these ceramic peelers: - The blade is very sharp, and will stay that way pretty much forever. - The blade won't discolor (and won't discolor the food!) if you peel something either alkaline or acidic. - Handle is very comfortable and fits my hand well The things that I didn't quite like are: - While the blades are sharper than the cheap peelers you buy at the grocery store, they aren't as sharp as some of the other "premium" peelers, like the Kuhn-Rikon. - The frame/handle is very comfortable, and seems solid, but the blade pivots are rather thin plastic - hopefully they won't break for quite a while, but probably won't hold up to being dropped too many times. - The ceramic blade is a lot more fragile than a normal steel blade, and may shatter if you drop it. That said, I'm very happy with this peeler - it's breezed through the fruits and veggies that I've tried it on so far, but I haven't yet tried it on more challenging things like hard-skinned winter squash. It did a great job removing strips of lemon rind without leaving a lot of the white pith on the rind. I'm just concerned with the parts of the handle that hold the blade - hopefully, they aren't as fragile as they appear to be.

Kyocera knives are great, but this peeler is something special. There's something extra satisfying about a product that simply works really well. And this one does. If you have an old peeler that's lost its edge, or if you need a new peeler that works really, really well - this is the one to get.

I've been using Kyocera vegetable peelers for many years, and they do eventually wear out. I recommend them for their sharpness and the comfortable handle. You can get a lot done fast with the wide blade. The clever little circle on the side will take out potato eyes or blemishes on your vegetables.

These are great! I use mine often and ordered more as gifts. They're sharp and easy to use. Highly recommend.
