Trigun is a worldwide manga and anime sensation! Trigun Deluxe Edition collects Trigun Volume 1 and 2 in a beautiful hardcover featuring nearly 700 pages of Yasuhiro’s Nightow’s signature creation, collected for the first time in its original oversized format! On the forbidding desert planet of Gunsmoke, a sixty billion double-dollar bounty hangs over the head of Vash the Stampede, a pistol-packing pacifist with a weapon capable of punching holes in a planet. Every trigger-happy psycho in creation is aiming to claim Vash dead or alive—preferably dead!—and although Vash believes in nonviolence, he won’t go down without a fight. And when Vash fights, destruction is sure to follow! This Deluxe Edition features: • The original 7" X 10" page format. • Faux leather cover with foil stamping and burnishing. • A bookmark ribbon. Collects Trigun Volume 1 and 2. Review: Very nice quality - Amazing quality! This is the nicest manga book I own (I don't own many, but still). It really exudes quality. Review: Excellent - No complaints from me.

Do better dark horse.
To say I'm disappointed with the translation not being fixed, the various typos and now hearing of the gold foiling rubbing off even before the books are opened, it's given me and many others disappointment and asking what was the delay for if it wasn't for fixing the translation?? And considering it's triguns 30th anniversary next year I thought more love would be given to a much loved series. All I'm hoping for is that maximum has more love than this one. It's disappointing to see dark horse neglect such a loved series

Poor quality control for jacket and translation
Positives: Good page quality (thick and opaque) with crisply printed lines. Debossed image on cover is clear and well defined. It has a sturdy feel to it. If you like large volumes (all dimensions, not just thickness) and aren't too fussy about the translation and quality control you might like this, though I would wait and see if it gets any cheaper. Negatives: Leather cover has several faults across spine and corners (loose dog-ear folds that stick out over the pages, lumpy along the spin) and the foil on the cover was already rubbing off when it arrived. The size of the book means it would hurt your wrists to hold it and read (though given the delicacy of the foil you might want to avoid that anyway). The English text still uses the translation produced a couple of decades ago during its original print (which has been out of print for years) which includes: lazy SFX translations, outdated anglicised names, and (most inexcusably) typos/grammar that should have been an easy proof read. This was originally slated to release towards the end of 2023 and was only delivered in Sept 2024 so with such a delay it's very disappointing that this time wasn't put towards quality control and improving the existing translation & typesetting (which I would expect out of a "deluxe" edition when the original hasn't been in print for years). Also despite being a preorder, it didn't seem to arrive any earlier than those who ordered it when it released. Certainly will not be preordering the other deluxe versions and unless the overall quality improves I'd rather wait and see if a reprint of the standard editions of Trigun Maximum is on the cards, as I would not recommend this version. In comparison to other deluxe editions I've seen and own, it seems to be really lacking.

Disappointing
Really disappointed that despite being a "Deluxe Edition", the contents of the book are just a lazy copy paste without fixing any of the grammar/spelling issues or the translation as a whole.

Rakuen!
I was introduced to Trigun anime early high school in the '00s and it became my No.1 anime. I came late to the manga when it was already finished and boy imagine my surprise when I found out and read the whole expanded story from the 98 anime. Naturally all the sources for that were bootleg so here is a chance the legitimize my love for the manga side of the story. This and all 5 maximum hardcover volumes! I don't mind the intact translation or the little imperfection. I finally have it in my possession.

The Definitive English Volume of Trigun's Original Run
The heft, quality, and love that went into this volume is far greater than I initially anticipated. I originally pre-ordered this back in May of '23, and was not the biggest fan of the mock-ups showing a yellow cover with blue lettering. Boy was I surprised to see this book when it arrived on my doorstep, not only because I had not kept up with the delays, but also to see it in a marvelous red leather that matches Vash's iconic coat! (And to have the manga revolver engraved into the cover instead of the anime one that was pictured in the yellow mockups haha.) The faux leather cover is plush and thick; this book is going to hold off wear for a long time. This book is the nicest one I own by a country mile in terms of build quality, and feels very in line with the old leather-cover Louis La'mour western novels, just in red instead of brown. The pages are crisp, the ribbon bookmark is welcome, the back cover info card isn't even attached to the book, and the barcode sticker comes off the back with no residue. In terms of differences between this Deluxe Edition and the previous Omnibus paperback volume (which I thankfully did get the full set of back when they were in print), the exact same translation is used; I don't mind this at all, but I know there was the fan-retranslation project going on that rose hopes that Dark Horse may have been wanting to retranslate the entire series. Dark Horse did go through and add small clarifying text for the sound effects this time, which is nice. The contents pages at the front and the chapter numbers were changed to align with the entire omnibus volume instead of within each tankobon volume; for example, "Diablo" is listed as Chapter #14 in the Deluxe Edition, rather than #2 (of Volume 2) in the Omnibus. For clarification, the tankobon volume covers and contents are still present as before, which is good. In another change from the omnibus, the last several pages of the Deluxe Edition are on quality photopaper and contain color pages with artwork from previous editions, including a double page spread of the artwork used for the front and back cover of the original Omnibus volume! None of that artwork was in the Omnibus version, and the Maximum Omnibus #5 only had color pages from the Maximus run, so this might be the first time we've gotten these in the West like this. In terms of the normal chapter art, it is the same pages and layout of the original paperback Omnibus, just on larger pages, which lay flat beautifully and are much easier to read. All in all, I have already pre-ordered all the remaining Deluxe Edition volumes to complete the set (except of course Maximus #5, since it has yet to appear on Amazon). This book, and Lord willing the rest of them after they come out, will sit on my shelves for a long time and be passed down and around for friends and family to read; I have no worries about how well these will hold up, especially compared to the old paperbacks I've re-read countless times that are showing their age. Thank you, Nightow, for getting these done this well, and thank you, Dark Horse, for putting in such hard effort on these. This Trigun volume feels like I am holding a brand-new old book.
