Review: Fantastic product, total game-changer if you're hand washing!! Review & tips for use - 9mos later Update: Still working great, still worth every penny. No leakage, I use this thing maybe 5-6 times per week. Water/energy efficient as well. Do take the time to clean it monthly -- the filters, the door, and the hoses too. Will help make sure your dishes keep smelling fresh. Doesn't hurt to run an empty load with some dishwasher cleaner every couple of months either. **Original Review** I've been fortunate to live in an apartment that I love for a few years now, and one of the only drawbacks to this place is the lack of dishwasher. It's a luxury I was willing to go without for the sake of a great living space. Now I do kind of enjoy washing dishes to an extent, I find it to be meditative and satisfying, but it's a big consumer of time. Especially so when my partner and I both work full time, and often eat late dinners between 8-10pm and just don't feel like doing chores afterwards, so things can pile up. There are a lot of similar units closer to the $200 price range, but most of them were brands I'd never heard of, didn't have any LED displays, and a lot are just on the boring side aesthetically. We decided it was worth a little more to go with a brand we knew we liked, the display, and something that wasn't all white or all black. Very glad we did! We've had this thing for about 6 weeks so far, and we use it probably about 5 times per week. Our kitchen has never been cleaner, and without any sort of planning my partner and I have naturally worked on a 50/50 split of running the wash because it's so easy. Let me tell you -- we still marvel regularly at what a life upgrade this has been. So much time back, cleaner kitchen, less stress around chores, and the cleanest dishes we've ever had. I am pretty meticulous about cleaning dishes thoroughly, and I have been impressed with the wash quality. Now I'll give some practical tips for anyone who has one of these or is in the market: - These countertop units are definitely on the heavy side, especially if you're a smaller person. So I highly recommend having either a dedicated counter spot for it, or getting a wheeled cart where you can tuck the unit below and move it into place as needed. This is coming from a pretty large dude who has been a manual laborer on more than one occasion. - The hose that connects to the sink needs a little attention after each wash cycle to make sure it's fully drained. We usually put a large mixing bowl onto the floor, then angle the hoses as needed to let gravity do its thing until there's no more water leaking out. Talking maybe 1-2mins of work at most. - I've read reports of leakage from these units. We did spot a leak, but it was connected to my point above. Moving the hoses around while draining meant that the connection on the back of the unit loosened up a bit, and some water dripped out from there. Now every time I drain the hoses, I simply check the connection as well and tighten if needed, and no leaking ever since. - I've tested out various levels of rinsing dishes, and overall I'd say that minimal rinsing is required for most things. I do a quick pass under the sink for anything that is heavily soiled, especially if it's got onions or other foods that tend to really stick. More than rinsing, I think it's important to make sure that the way you're loading the washer isn't blocking the things that are heavily soiled. The instructions give some general pointers on spacing, and while I still manage to cram more into this thing than is suggested, I make sure that anything real dirty has enough space for water to comfortably flow around it. - Larger plates may not fit in this thing, at least not in the plate rack. I believe the 10-10.5" range is ideal. If your plates are larger you might need to wash them in a smaller load and angle them into place. Have done this once or twice and the end result was still a nice clean set of dishes. Hands down one of the best purchases I've made in the past 5 years.
Review: Exactly what I needed - So, firstly, my product did arrive damaged. I saw the big ding in the box and new unless it was double boxed, not even the foam would save it. My thoughts were correct and it was damaged as seen in the last few photos. Thankfully though, the damage was superficial. The outer shell is very thick and so the inside of the washer is perfect without damage. I didn’t care too much about the aesthetics so I kept it. Okay, now to the review! Someone said this is heavy, and honestly I’m 4’11’m and not muscular at all and I carried this alone up two flights of stairs in the box and put it on the counter myself. Maybe I’m stronger than I think I am, but I expected it to be far heavier. If you live alone and no how to lift without hurting your back. It’s not too difficult to move. Installation took no time at all. Maybe 10 minutes. Quick tip: if your sink needs to screw into the adapter, remove one of the black rings from the inside of the adapter. You do not have to take the adapter off the sink to run it which is great because it makes hooking up the hoses a .5 second task when you go to use the dishwasher. Use is SO simple. Hook up the hoses, check for leaks every time, load up the dishwasher, pick a cycle and that’s that. It beeps when it is done but I personally never hear it. I just keep track of the time. There are various settings and time to wash ranges from almost 2 hours for the heaviest setting and then 30 minutes for the rinse. There is a drying and sanitizing feature after the wash. Someone mentioned it doesn’t dry well (I’d have to agree) but I just let it sit then either pop the door open and let them dry over a few hours or hand dry them after. I recommend not putting anything by with big food particles to keep the catch at the base from clogging, but it, along with the splash bar thing can be removed and cleaned. Results: I found that the 45 minute setting which is a light wash works fine, even for heavily soiled dishes. Which is nice because I don’t want to run my water for 2 hours. This gets my dishes very clean. I use Blueland dish washer tabs but also have used seventh generation dish pods and both worked well. I did notice with the pods that I had a bit of residue and I think that’s just because it’s too much detergent. The Blue land tabs are smaller and I don’t have that issue. In summary, I think if you are in need of a dishwasher, this is a great choice provided you have the countertop space and/or have somewhere to put it. It is quite large and barely fit under my counters, but it is worth it. I will update after a few more runs, but right now, I would highly recommend!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ More positive feedback on this product
*by P***S on November 25, 2018*

This is a 4th update since I have been using this between early December 2018 and mid-April 2019. Cleans well. Helps to wipe food off dishes with a paper towel over your trashcan, the load dishes and pots. I am using the cleaning pods, generally only one per cycle, and the dishes still come out immaculate. I would use this same procedure with a full sized dishwasher, however, since I don't like to see or smell the food traps building up with food debris in the first place. About once a month, I run a cycle on vinegar only, no dishes, no soap, just to keep it extra clean and smelling fresh. All in all, this is a superior product. I hate washing dishes by hand when an apartment has not DW, so this product has been a real boon to me and given me time and freedom back. The dishes and glasses come out so clean on the 45 minute cycle, including pots and pans that have been wiped with a paper towel first, that I know I am eating off of and cooking with clean dishes and cookware. Skip doing dishes by hand - buy this product instead. This is a third update: About 25 dish washing cycles later, this product continues to perform well and reliably. I use the 45 minute setting symbolized by the glass/cup icon, which does an admirable air dry of the dishes. I am amazed how clean the dishes come out. I recommend using this particular cycle for most of your average needs and save the lengthier cycles for the heavy duty washing. However, I recommend that you routinely wipe any food particles from cookware and dishes first before loading the dishes for cleaning. This keeps the filters clean and is a small price to pay for keeping the dishwasher performing at optimal level. I also recommend that you check the hose fittings once a week just to ensure they are secure in place, and that you use the dishwasher when you are home to monitor or at least be there if any hose slips out of place. So far, all hoses have remained secure in place, and I do not anticipate this will be a problem. If you are thinking about buying a countertop dishwasher, I highly recommend you consider buying this product. Black + Decker designed an excellent product here. Update to the review below: I have run about 12 loads so far since getting the device. It is performing well and cleaning the dishes beautifully, plus sanitizing them in the process. I still recommend that you run the dishwasher only when you are home to monitor - water discharges frequently through the quick connect faucet valve, several times during the cycle, and I think it is important to be around to verify that hoses are still tightly connected. So far, hoses have stayed put, and I don't anticipate problems. I do plan to sanitize the dishwasher once a week with running a short cycle with a splash of white vinegar and a tablespoon of baking soda in it, while empty. This will keep the dishwasher sanitized itself and help ensure the quick connect faucet unit remains clean. This dishwasher has given me my kitchen back - there is no more backlog of dirty dishes to wash by hand. I can now load the dishwasher with dirty dishes daily, and run later in the week as needed. This beats washing dishes by hand by many orders of magnitude. No more washing dishes by hand here! I just hooked my new unit up yesterday and ran a first load. The dishes were immaculate after the wash cycle - something that cannot be attained by washing them by hand. And, they are sanitized as well. The dishwasher came well packed, and it nice looking - however, it is all white with a stainless front handle. Even so, it still looks good in the kitchen. The product is well designed and well built. Remember to have teflon tape handy when you hook up the adapter to your faucet, much like you would use when switching shower heads in the bathroom. The teflon tape secures the threads in place. I babysat the first load yesterday to become accustomed to what it does when during the wash cycle - and I am babysitting the 2nd load now, again to become familiar with how the dishwasher operates, when it discharges water throughout the cycle, etc. I do recommend that in an apartment or condo building, that you run the unit only when you are at home, so that you can monitor hoses to make sure they are staying in place under water pressure. I also don't mind having to remove large bits of food from dishware before loading - I hate doing dishes by hand (there are no dishwashers in apartments in my building), so I am happy to live with this minor inconvenience for the bigger convenience of it cleaning my dishes wonderfully. Now, I can get my kitchen back in shape! I will write a second review later after I have used it for a few weeks. I expect I will continue to be impressed. So, I recommend you buy this product - it is number 2 in the list of top 10 countertop dishwashers, and I bought it because Black & Decker is a manufacturer I have trusted for years.
