SmallRig Foldable V Mount Battery Plate, All-in One Mounting Solution

This v mount battery plate did exactly what i needed it to. The quality is so nice and it is very strong. Good battery mount for the price. Ease to adjust because of the good design

So far I don't have any complaints. I have a Canon R7 and Smallrig cage. The cage's ARCA base shape allows it to slide into the baseplate perfectly. I'm not thrilled about the idea of the lever locks, but so far they have been holding nice and tightly. One thing to consider is having a smaller capacity battery for handholding.

I've gone back and forth pulling the trigger on one of these for a while and after my last shoot where I ran out of battery power and didn't notice (one man band and it was my b-cam) I bought this. It's perfect. It functions exactly as expected, is easy to use and set up, doesn't way a ton and didn't cost a ton. I paired it with a smallrig vmount and now I have no concerns about power over an interview shoot.

I picked up this SmallRig Foldable V-Mount Battery Plate for my Sony FX3 before heading to NAB 2025, and it performed great on day one. It connects solidly to the bottom of the camera and feels super sturdy — definitely a well-built piece of gear. That said, with a fully rigged setup and V-mount battery, the added weight was a bit much for handheld use over multiple days, so I went lighter for the rest of the show. But if you’re in a studio environment or using a tripod, this is an excellent solution for extended power without compromise. One less thing to worry about on set!

Very useful to use a battery so you don't have to change batteries throughout a shoot. Works great on tripod and easy to use. I will sometimes will attach to cage for handheld shooting but I'll always use a camera strap for support as it could get quite heavy over time

This is everything I could have hoped for when building out a compact video rig with a Sony A7IV. I wanted to keep things compact and simple without using rails and this combined with the Smallrig V mount batteries fit the bill. My camera cage locks right into it and I have no need for a power distribution plate with the ports available on the batteries plus it is already arca compatible to put on a tripod. This combination keeps everything simple and saved me plenty of money not needing all the parts of a more traditional rig.

**UPDATE**After my initial review a Small rig rep reached out and offered to have a new plate sent out as well as a replacement v mount piece for my VB50 Small rig battery. Both arrived very quickly and work flawlessly. Love this locking plate and very grateful for SmallRig's top notch customer service.Initial review:The locking mechanism for the v mount battery doesn't seem to really lock in place. With a little bit of force my battery pops off the mount. Not sure if that's how it's designed and I wasn't aware or if my unit is faulty.

A great plate from smallrig that really delivers on what it says it will do.Unfortunately, if you use a peak design system, or a Ulanzi F38 like me, it does not fit into the quick release, it's too small by millimeters (which I'm sure is intentional)The workaround? I put an F38 plate on the bottom of the whole Smallrig plate so at least when I'm on set going from tripod to handheld, the whole rig still works from an f38 quick release stand point (you can do this with any baseplate really)But the Smallrig Plate itself must be screwed to the bottom of the camera which isn't the end of the world, but I'd ideally like to stay in one system completely, so if Ulanzi / Falcam came out with their own version of this I'd switch to that, but for now, this workaround version is doing fine.

Great quality mount as expected from Smallrig, feels very well made - the mount fits well to the camera with plenty of adjustment.K&F V-Mount batteries don’t lock in to this mount, which I’m not sure if it’s a K&F or Smallrig design issue. I had to use the Smallrig included spare triangular wedge to fit the K&F battery, so for one battery I was sorted by the spare wedge included by Smallrig. For a second battery, I had to buy a third party wedge to replace the K&F connector. All working now but just something to watch out for if you are planning on using this mount with the K&F batteries. I guess use the Smallrig batteries with the Smallrig mount!
