In actuality, I ordered these for my own personal use, specifically for catching Mediterranean geckos, anoles, crickets, grasshoppers, and smaller frogs, and they do great for that. Given what they cost, I was very pleased with them. He is 12yo, and he is on the autism spectrum; he's always loved animals of all kinds, but the last couple of years he has gotten deeply into the creatures he can find around in our yard. He catches lizards of many kinds, snakes, moths, beetles, frogs and toads, spiders, flies, and even tadpoles and small fish from a pond down the road. If it can run, hop, swim, or fly he will find a way to catch it! But these nets make his "job" a lot easier and more fun! He doesn't have trouble catching anything with just his hands, so sometimes I forget to order more nets when he loses or breaks his last one. But this time he was outside and yelled out to me, "mom! Get more nets! I need nets!" And so I did. Being low on money at the moment, I went for this pack of 6. I usually order a different brand, of the same thing, in a larger pack since he uses them every single day when he has them, and they're not exactly long term use. These are just about the same as the ones I have gotten in the past from other places. And this type is the best quality kind out of all the cheap nets that can be found, imo. They have telescoping handles, made of metal. They have a metal rim where the net is. They have a net that seems to be made of a woven plastic fiber. And they have handles that are a somewhat rubbery material. I've gotten some from several different companies in the past and some have cheap plastic handles, which are not good. Some have plastic hoops in the net, which break a LOT faster than the metal ones. And some have nets with holes that are larger and the nets are like a bag you'd buy tangerines in. Not good. But these are quite nice, for cheap nets! I've posted an image of all 6 next to each other. I pulled the handle on the red one all the way out (the longest it can be), then a little bit less with each net until I got to the pink one, which is the shortest the handle can be. The handles slide back and forth easily, but stay in place once pulled to your desired length. The colors on this set are very pretty! They are more vivid than some other sets with the same colors. The size of the net area is just right for safely catching anything he typically finds in the yard or at the pond. I wouldn't go trying to catch a mammal with these, but basically anything other than that! The nets feel stronger than some others I've gotten, so maybe these will hold up for longer! Even the handles seem a but sturdier than most, to me. If they stand up to use as well as I think they will, I may have a new regular place to buy them from now on. Some time last year I thought I would like to try something I didn't have to keep replacing for him, so I got him a much larger net, also with telescoping handle, but the mesh was supposed to be a high quality fabric. The mesh netting was much more tightly woven, so the holes were very small. My son was excited and took off with it. 10 mins later he came running in screaming and crying because the net had torn in 2 places! I was so upset for him, and I had just paid almost 3 times as much for that 1 net as I do for packs of 8 or more of this type. From then on, I've done nothing but appreciated these nets! If you have a kid who loves to catch bugs, etc, trust me.. these nets will be just right for them!
