Do you have to remove the piece to fit standard plates?** A: This machine is not meant to load 200 pounds of plates. 125 pounds should be good. **Q: What gage steel is this made out of?** A: I don't know but it's strong enough. I've had 200 pounds loaded up on this machine and it's held up well. I see the nylon pulleys failing way before the steel.
