I'd estimate that 70% of the weight is in the head of the hammer, making my forearms and hands/grip really work just to maneuver it. The finish is super grippy, not just the handle but all over. I like that it's one solid piece, rather than plastic with any sort of filling. I've only had it about a week, but I can feel the difference in my muscles after using it for just a few minutes a day. My cousin also got the same hammer, and he said he never thought 35# could be so humbling. I have to agree.
