As far as I am concerned you have opened a can of worms with this question as far as Im concerned.
I used some No 8 screws, but the wall plugs were partially into brick and not just solely into plasterboard.
I generally use a slightly smaller drill than what is recommended ie 6 or 6.5 for these particular wall plugs, this can depend on what I am drilling into, for hard brick maybe 6.5 for thermal clockwork 6, yo can always make a hole larger if too tight a fit. If just into plasterboard with nothing behind I would not use these at all. I usually push a very thin screwdriver through plaster board where I intend to drill to gauge what is behind and how far it is behind to check how much of my wall plug will be in something solid by a reasonable amount, depending on what I am trying to secure to the wall and the type and weight it has to take.
