ASMARK Macbook Pro A1502 Battery Replacement for 13-inch (Early 2015,Mid 2014,Late 2013) Retina A1493/A1582 Battery

This is a review of the ASMARK MacBook Pro A1502 replacement battery. The battery, tools and very detailed photo based instructions all came in a very nice Apple’esq package. The instructions are great! With photos for each stage along with written instructions, it’s really very easy to strip down the MacBook and replace the old battery. Be advised that the rubbing alcohol isn’t included in the package however, it’s easy enough to break the seal between the batteries and glue using the supplied spudgers. I removed the old battery carefully without the use of alcohol, it took about 30mins. Be patient and careful not to bend the old batteries and forcibly lever them up. Just slide the spudger with the handle under the batteries one at a time breaking the glue seal between the batteries and case. Keep the spudger as flat as possible all the time. Eventually the seal will give and the batteries will lift up one at a time. Wiggling the spudger helps to break the glue seal. Once the old battery is out, fitting the new battery is super easy. One bit of advice, the new battery comes with the bottom completely covered in new sticky tape that will hold the batteries down so hard you will never be able to get them out again so, do what I did and do not remove the clear plastic covering the sticky tape and instead just put the new battery down onto what is left of the old sticky glue. This holds the battery perfectly in place whilst ensuring you will be able to remove the battery again in the future to replace it again. Once put back together it’s important to plugin the PSU before starting the Mac for the first time as the new battery isn’t fully charged. For the first charge, charge the battery to 100%. After the initial charge only charge the battery to 85% each time as this will extend its life considerably. I did this with my original battery and it lasted just over 10 years! For £58 this is a great battery replacement that works perfectly.

The packaging, toolkit and fitting instructions (printed and on YouTube) are first class. The video instructions are clearer than the printed, which although comprehensive are a little difficult to see. The necessary adhesive solvent for removing the old battery is not included, but Isopropanol alcohol 99.9% is essential, & is widely available. and only £7 a litre online. Asmark will even refund you $10 for this (as mentioned in the instructions, if you "contact the seller" via Amazon. The whole job takes about an hour. Be aware that the (10) external case screws are not all the same length, although they look very similar, so you should number them when dismantling so you can return each to its original position. Freeing the old battery requires persistence and patience, and repeated applications of solvent. do not be tempted to prise it out forcibly, slow and gentle is the way. After all the residual adhesive is removed, it is prudent to offer up the new battery "dry" with its adhesive protection paper still attached, so you can bend the wiring of the connector to the correct angulation for the connector to easily locate into its socket on the logic board. It is much easier to do this bending before the battery is finally stuck in position. Once installed I checked the charge capacity of the new battery, and it was 71,500 mWh as advertised. (see photo) I obviously cannot comment on its life expectancy, but all seems fine so far.

My laptop needed this badly, it would only work if plugged in! I looked at many possibilities but chose this one because a review said it came complete with instructions and link to an instructional film and it did, these proved very good and, along with the kit of tools and various bits and pieces made the job very easy. Slow and easy, methodical and follow the film - easy, worked first time. I have no hesitation in recommending this kit, your laptop will thank you!

works fine with good fitting instructions but after about 3 weeks I noticed that one of the sections had come unstuck, now the other end has come unstuck, as I was meticulous about the cleaning of all old residue I can only assume that it is the glue not holding, otherwise 5 stars

My 2015 MacBook Pro was beginning to have battery issues after 8 years. I watched a few youtube videos on how to replace the battery (thank you to all those amazing contributors) and decided I would have a go at doing this myself. I also, subsequent to those videos, discovered that the SSD (250GB in my case) was also replaceable so I ordered this battery from Amazon and a new (1TB) SSD from Fflex on Amazon. Today I successfully replaced both items. Do watch the videos: it was pretty much as described. This battery replacement kit comes with everything you need apart from the alcholhol needed to soften the glue. I happened to have a some isopropyl alcohol which worked fine. The old battery was stuck on pretty well and the hardest part of the whole exercise was trying to remove the last bits of glue from the laptop case. In truth I didn't remove it all but I got quite close and the new battery stuck to the chassis well. The kit comes with everything (alcohol aside) you need and the instructions work well. If you've watched the videos they will make perfect sense. Removing and re-connecting the battery and touchpad connectors is tricky but a gentle and soft approach will get you there. Hopefully this battery will give me a few more years of useful life. I did check that my battery replacement had worked before attempting the SSD replacement and all was well. Replacing the SSD by comparison is an absolute doddle, but then there are several updates that then need to be completed. Allow a day to do both updates. 1-2 hrs for the battery, 15 minutes for the SSD work and 4-5 hours for the Time machine back-ups and OS upgrades. But overall, a very satisfying experience.

My MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) had become a real pain, needing to be recharged every day and would sometimes cut out when it said 35% battery power was left. Apple quoted me £245 to replace the battery, so I HAD to look at this option! I've changed batteries in iPhones before, so I know you have to be careful. However the instructions supplied are excellent. I didn't bother with the online video. I would say the process took me around 30 minutes and all the bits (apart from an alcohol solvent) are supplied. I honestly didn't discover the missing alcohol before I started, so looked around for an alternative. I had an aerosol of Holts Brake Cleaner in the garage, which worked perfectly as a substitute! Everything fitted exactly and the only advice I'd give, is to make sure you lay out all the screws in a sensible and logical way as you take them out, as there are some variations and you need to get this right on reassembly. My MacBook Pro booted up after reassembly showing 68% battery and I left it until it was on 100% for a while. I know you can force a recalibration, but I'm just leaving mine to "learn" on it's own, which it will after a few power cycles. I'm always slightly nervous of lithium ion batteries from manufacturers I've not heard of before and I'd always advise avoiding recharging when you're in bed asleep or out for the day. At least in the early days. Mine has now been on charge and isn't warm or showing any signs to be concerned about. I'll monitor it, but at the time of writing, I'm genuinely impressed by the battery, the instructions and the manufacturer.

Coming back just a few days after my initial review with an update. The laptop has simply suddenly died with no intention to turn back on at any point. I tried everything, it just does not start anymore. I can only blame the battery giving up for that. Leaving the original review here just in case I simply got unlucky. I've got it installed only one week, but nothing to complain about so far. It comes with all the required tools to open the case and detach the existing battery. Install instructions are clear and easy to follow. It comes well packaged, which gives you a sense of order and quality. Real quality of course needs to be verified over time, I plan to come back in a few months with an update.
