I keep it right by the sink, which makes it really easy to refill. It makes ice quickly, about every six minutes, and isn't very loud while running. I mainly use it for my iced coffee in the morning and for filling up my water bottle, and it keeps up well with that. I think it's a great size for one or two people if you're using the ice as it's made rather than trying to keep a large supply ready at all times. If you need more ice for several people, you can also empty the basket into the freezer every so often to build up a stockpile.
