ZOOM R12 MultiTrak mobile 8-track recorder and compact creative recording studio for musicians, record, cut, edit, loop, copy, integrate effects and produce via touchscreen

I am a live-music recording geek who has just moved up from a Fostex 8-track hard-disk recorder, and can confirm that this is a superb piece of kit. The recording onto SD card is totally silent (unlike the Fostex whose hard-disk drive could be quite noisy and easily picked up by the microphone if not set up at an appropriate distance) and the set-up was incredibly easy. I look forward to doing plenty of recording, just got to get used to the various effects and over-dubbing; the only downside for me is the very small touch-screen which, at 73 years of age, I find rather fiddly - fingers no longer being particularly nimble, I bought a stylus intended for this sort of touch-screen and that makes life so much easier!!

Took a bit of working out and the touch screen is hard to select things on, but it seems to work well. Happy with it so far. Importing tracks is annoying and the built in effects aren't the best. You have to get the 44.1 24bit and mono/stereo settings perfect for it to work, but got there in the end. For the price, it is pretty good.

This is the product I've been searching for, I wish I'd bought it ages ago. I use it to create my own music with Roland electric drums, guitar, bass and vocals. Has excellent effects built in for vocals reverb, acoustic or distorted guitar. Recorded vocals, guitar, bass and drums perfectly. Great for practising or putting together quality demos. Only issue is it's a small touch screen and I have big fingers, but I can live with that, once you've set up effects and equaliser, all main buttons (record, rewind, play etc.) are on the device. Haven't tested linking it up with a teams call yet but seems possible so will definitely test that out soon. Overall, great device that packs a lot of functionality in.

I was impressed by the features of this digital recorder after watching several YT videos but on receipt I was extremely disppointed and returned item. The unit is rendered unusable because of its lack of USB ports The single micro USB which is commandeered by the electricity supply plug is a ridiculous idea. I spent £ 50 on a a Multi USB HUB and could still not get the machine to connect to my PC or record anything. I returned to Amazon for a refund which they honoured but wasted £50 on the Hub as I do not need it for anything else. I purchased a similar item from Roland Boss which I am happy with - so I would recommend them instead of Zoom. I found the whole experience very stressful

Tiny touch screen makes this almost useless. I much prefer the older R 24 model. Far superior to this.

Gave up on this as the drum tracks are rubbish,and trying to move tracks down the screen is very difficult. I prefer just to use my line 6 jm4 looper for making backing tracks now.
