A chilling copycat killer has the Naturals in his crosshairs in this exhilarating crime thriller from Jennifer Lynn Barnes, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Inheritance Games . Seventeen-year-old Cassie Hobbes has a gift for profiling people. Her talent has landed her a spot in an elite FBI program for teens with innate crime-solving abilities, and into some harrowing situations. After barely escaping a confrontation with an unbalanced killer obsessed with her mother's murder, Cassie hopes she and the rest of the team can stick to solving cold cases from a distance. But when victims of a brutal new serial killer start turning up, the Naturals are pulled into an active case that strikes too close to home: the killer is a perfect copycat of Dean's incarcerated father-a man he'd do anything to forget. Forced deeper into a murderer's psyche than ever before, will the Naturals be able to outsmart the enigmatic killer's brutal mind games before this copycat twists them into his web for good? With her trademark wit, brilliant plotting, and twists that no one will see coming, Jennifer Lynn Barnes will keep you on the edge of your seats (and looking over your shoulders) as you race through the pages of this thrilling novel. Catch every thrilling twist and turn of The Naturals series in: The Naturals Killer Instinct All In Bad Blood Twelve (enovella) For more unputdownable series from Jennifer Lynn Barnes, don’t miss the beloved Inheritance Games Saga and The Debutantes duet. Review: A fantastic second book with more adventure and mystery! - 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 for this review. This was a great second book in the Naturals series! I enjoyed the mystery and adventure, and I thought the characters had more depth this time around. Instead of focusing on a case related to Cassie’s past, this story relates to Dean’s past, and readers got a lot more information about Dean and his relationship with his father. I also really enjoyed the addition of Agent Sterling. She was difficult to like at first, but as the story went on, it was easy to understand why she felt the way she did about the Naturals Program. It was interesting to read about her connection to both Briggs and Judd. I have to say that Lia annoyed me more in this book than she did in the first, and that’s saying something. I try to empathize with her and what she’s been through (although we don’t really know her full story at this point), but the way she treats Cassie is so frustrating. They seemed like they were in a good place at the end of this book though, so maybe she won’t be quite so aggravating in the next book. I’m glad readers got an answer to the love triangle in this book, because that trope starts to bug me when it goes on too long. Overall, this was a fantastic book and it makes me even more excited to continue reading the series! Review: A Murder Mystery - The book, Killer Instinct, by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, is a book filled with mystery, and action that will keep you guessing. It’s contains a wonderful plot that has many twists and turns that are guaranteed to make you intrigued. It is the second book in the series and information is carried on through the first and second book. The book starts out when a seventeen year old girl, Cassie, lands herself a spot in the naturals program. The naturals program consisted of teens such as Cassie, Dean, Micheal, Lia, and Sloane, who worked with the FBI to assist on murder cases. Recently, victims of murders kept turning up and that left them all puzzled. Dean’s dad (Daniel Redding) was a serial killer, and wound up in jail a few weeks earlier, this left left people questioning if these murders were a copycat of Deans fathers, for the cases were concerningly similar. As the book continues, drama develops between the characters as they race to see who is behind these deadly murders. The kids began to try and get more involved in the cases, because they believe that Deans father whos in jail might have some sort of connection to this new murderer. The antagonist is shown as the murder, and the portagonists are shown through the naturals. The characters are all tested against the race against time, trying to prevent another murder from occuring. They slowly begin to unfold the clues to who the murderer is, but did they figure it out in time? If you like mysteries and love type genres, this book would be great for you because it includes a perfect amount of mystery to keep you entertained and confused, but it also adds in relationships between the characters that shows a twist to the plot. Overall, Killer Instinct is an exciting, and fast paced book that will leave people who enjoy mystery and crime, pleased.

This book is so good. If you want a book that makes you go crazy then read this right now. She had a PHD in psychology so she’s knows how to mess with your head. Just read this book. That’s all I have to say.

good
Found family, serial killers, and a bit of romance? I'm in! This book was fast-paced and entertaining, and I’m a sucker for short chapters. I actually enjoyed the reveals and plot twists more than in the first book, although I did get a bit bored in the middle. This was definitely enjoyable! I’m excited to see how the Naturals and their bonds evolve in books three and four. My babies deserve the best. If only these books were multiple POVs!!! 🥲 … and yes, the love triangle is slowly killing me.

This series does not dissapoint!
The second book is just as good as the first. Actually even better because now the end set up for a really fun and interesting books to follow. The character building is very deep and emotional which is a good opposition to the mystery and all the funny banter makes an amazing relief from both. Resulting in a very deep, meaningful book with an intriguing mystery that is very easy to read.

Another winner from Jen Barnes
If you have an inner geek, this story will probably scratch it behind the ears. If you enjoy a well-written murder-mystery/suspense tale, without the gratuitous violence and sex that too many of them wallow in, then you'll like this. The main heroine is a girl who has a knack for profiling, i.e. figuring out a stranger's personality and motivations, and anticipating future behavior, based on subtle clues. Her deductions are reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes at times, only more in the arena of psychology. Other misfit-savants in the story include a girl who is good at lying and detecting lies, a boy who is expert at reading body language, a boy profiler-prodigy with a shady past, and a girl genius with poor social skills. There doesn't seem to me to be anything supernatural in their gifts, though they are far beyond normal. The teens use their skills to solve murder cases, especially serial murders. They aren't 18 yet, so they are basically in a group home, which is also helping them to form the close human connections that most of them were lacking in their previous situations. I was first introduced to Ms. Barnes' writing through her Raised By Wolves trilogy, and that is also an excellent read. Her books are in the young adult genre but her writing and realistic characterizations are far above the usual YA book, or many adult novels, for that matter. I liked both of the Naturals books, they were a quick read for me. They did not lag or bore me at all, and there was enough humor and goodness throughout to keep the stories from being depressing. My only complaint is that I wish the books were a little longer and explored the different personalities a bit more. Her protagonists are compelling and likable. These books have intelligent plot-lines, with heart and a dash of humor.
