When using an SSD for the first time, it needs to be formatted and partitioned first. You can use "Disk Management Tool" to format and partition the SSD, and then use it in "Windows Explorer".

Why is the actual capacity of SSD smaller than the advertised capacity?

Because the manufacturer's calculation method is 1TB=1000MB=1000000KB=1000000000B, and the computer system's calculation method is 1TB=1024MB=1024*1024KB=1024*1024*1024B, so the capacity you see is 1TB=(1000*1000*1000)/(1024*1024*1024)TB≈0.93TB.

Plug and play for my camera hub storage

I bought this 1TB SSD to use as storage for my multi-camera hub system, and it was basically plug and play. The hub recognized it right away as a connected hard drive, showed the storage properly, and started using it for loop recording without me having to fight with setup. For this type of use, I wanted something quiet, simple, and reliable. Since it is an SSD, there is no spinning hard drive noise, and it does not add the same heat or vibration concerns as an older style drive. The available storage showed around 953GB, which is normal after formatting, and that gives plenty of room for camera recordings. Installation was easy, the drive was recognized quickly, and it has been working well so far. For a budget SATA SSD, it does exactly what I needed. - Plug and play for my camera hub storage. - Recognized right away as a connected hard drive. - Works with loop recording. - Around 953GB usable after formatting. - Quiet since it is an SSD. - No spinning drive noise. - Good amount of storage for multiple cameras. - Easy installation. - Good value for the money. - Better option than using a small memory card for backup storage. Had this SSD for over two years now, over 7 thousand hours of run time and it works just as new, along side this its outlived t other drives I got, one far later and the other earlier. Love it would buy again.
