Perfect for folks who need a light on at night, for any reason
My son has numerous developmental difficulties and among them is a complete lack of language, so he can't explain why this is so, but he started wanting to sleep with the light on about the same time he learned how to operate light switches – when he was about 5 – and he's done it ever since then, with that giant ball of glare illuminating his room all night. Turn it off, and within a couple of hours, he'll wake up, hop up, turn it right back on, and go back to sleep. Well, this light has been a game changer. Now he is perfectly content to sleep with the night light, yet if we need a full light in his room, we can get that with the flip of a switch – literally, when you flip the wall switch off and right back on, the light alternates from night light to standard light and back again. But the engineers of this gem weren't done yet. As long as you leave the light off for at least half a minute or so when you switch it off, the next time you turn it on (which might be hours later) it returns to the mode you last used – it doesn't switch modes unless the off/on cycle time is quick. So for days, this thing has been in night light mode only, every time we turned it on, which has been great. He's clever enough to understand light switches changing modes – the living room lamps do this, from the single standard wall switch control, and he's figured out how to change nodes – but he's been content with the dimmer, calmer night light even when playing. With a normal light switch, you can't further adjust the brightness (beyond the night light/standard light difference, which is very different), and we didn't need that. I passed by fancier lights because this does precisely what I wanted, and it's impossible to set it wrong... it just works... but... if you add a compatible dimmer switch on the wall, this light can be safely dimmed, if that's what you need. It would be magnificent if this light had like a 50%/75%/100% setting where you could set the max brightness when you installed it, kind of like you can set the color temperature, but I'm satisfied with the way it works. The night light is no slacker – it's still bright enough to read by, though your mom would probably tell you it's too dim for that and you're going to strain your eyes, so check with her. Overall, this thing also seems well-made, and designed for easy installation, including a small hanger strap so you can hang the fixture safely from the bracket while connecting the wires. And it has very nice, understated modern styling.

Very nice light.
Got this for my kitchen, paired it with a Lutron dimmer and base station. Dims well, good amount of light, appreciated the cable hanger for installation ease. Now I just have to see if Alexa can access the night light feature. Works great with the switch. The dimmer gives it a soft on and off which I love. Also dims nicely without any flicker.

Gave up after a year.
Honestly, its a good light, the dual mode function works great and it gives off nice light in both modes. However, I am disappointed that it died after a year with not even a thousand hours of use. 2-3 hours a day 4-5 days a week in normal and maybe 50 hrs in night mode. For something you have to wire in with twist nuts, this becomes e-waste way too fast. Additionally, there are concerns on how it died. Cool winter day, 66f at ceiling height, and this thing had a cooked death. Too hot to touch, which is strange as it ran cool during the summer with an avg inside temp of 82 (no ac). Caught it when it died, killed the light at the switch, not sure if it would of kept cooking and didnt want to find out if it would light itself. Mileage may vary but damn its sad that even our lighting solutions are one-off e-waste.

worth it
I bought this light to replace an old dining room fixture that had seen better days. That fixture, I believe, was original to the house, so it had been there since the 1950s. I did have some concerns at first about hanging a modern LED fixture there, but these are not that expensive so I took the plunge. I'm really happy that I did. The light can be mounted in two ways - either to a conventional electric box in the ceiling, or simply attach it to the ceiling with drywall anchors or screws. I was able to get mine to work with my70+ year old ceiling box. Installation was straightforward and easy. The light fits flush to the ceiling with no gaps and it's really low-profile. As far as performace goes, it puts out plenty of light. The old light had been on a dimmer, and I bought a new dimmer switch because there were a couple of reviews where some people had trouble with the older dimmers. However, the light worked just fine with my existing dimmer - which was probably also 70+ years old. (I changed it anyway because it was old, and I had a new one ready to go.) I rarely need to use the light full-blast - it's typically dimmed down to around half. The night light feature might be my favorite thing with this light. It doesn't shine downward like the main light, it shines upward to the ceiling. This delivers a more diffuse, indirect light at night, and its color is not harsh at all. Even at full brightness it's suitable as a night light. In fact, if I come out to the kitchen in the middle of the night, I don't turn any lights on, I just increase the brightness of the night light, do my thing, and turn the dimmer back down when I leave. If I didn't have a ceiling fan in my kitchen already, I would put one of these in that spot. TLDR: I really dig this light. It's a great value for the money and it has such a low-key design aesthetic that it can literally go anywhere. The night light is awesome. This one of the very few products I've bought on Amazon that I can't find any negative things to say about. Would definitely recommend and/or buy again.
