I’m not doing thru-hikes so a heavier but durable pack was my goal. 2021 brought the new Aether 65 vs the older Atmos 65, both of which were my leading candidates. My Atmos came today and to my surprise, it DID come with an included rainfly! Note that rain fly’s do not normally come with the Atmoses? The medium is a 65 liter pack weighing in at 4.56 lbs, so it’s no ultralight. But here’s why I settled on the Atmos 65: 1. Anti-Gravity suspension/harness system - makes it feel like you’re carrying less weight than you actually are. 2. Durable & Flawless construction - heavy duty quality zippers, durable outer material, and overall build (like a tank!) 3. Great pockets & just the right amount of storage - 2 external storage pockets on the front of the pack is a winner! Also, trekking pole and dual ice axe lashings. 4. Dual side pockets are large/deep enough to fit a full-sized, Grayl water filter flask. 5. Removable brain and integral weather flap. 6. **Q: What does the sizing mean? Is it how much the bag can hold or is it just for fit?**
A: The size refers to the fit, see sizing chart at Osprey's website.
However, IT DOES AFFECT the volume a little also. The small is the true volume advertised, in this case 65L. and goes up about 2L per size. Med-67L. LG-69L

**Q: How do you measure for size**
A: You can visit the Osprey website, there is a guide to measuring for your size.  You may need someone to help since you'll be measuring down the center of your back, but it saves you the trouble of driving to an outdoor store to get measured for a product that you don't intend to buy from them.

**Q: Are the dimensions of the pack when it is full?**
A: Yes, although I'd say it's a bit deeper than 6 inches when loaded up to the max.

**Q: Does it worth the extra price versus the old model?**
A: Yes.  Not a big price difference, and you get a rain cover and extra lower compression straps.  Over the 8-10 years you’ll use this bag, the extra cost is nil

Absolutely impressed by the fit and function of this pack. I recently completed a 12mi Hike with 5L of water and all of my gear (35lbs+) and the Osprey Atmos 65AG made it comfortable. The hip and shoulder straps are so robust that they take all of the load off the shoulders. The AG system keeps the pack off the back and allows your back to breathe. Pockets and gear ties are convenient and plentiful. Hip pockets are large and perfectly placed unless you have a larger waist. The lower side pockets stretch and are perfect for water bottles, rain jacket or any ready access item. This pack has too many features but the rain cover is sold separately. The lifetime warranty that Osprey offers is a game changer for this already amazing product.
