Square Bluetooth Contactless Card Reader (2nd generation) – Take contactless & card payments - accepts Chip & PIN, Debit and Credit Cards, Apple and Google Pay

The card reader is really easy to use and super convenient! I was a bit wary because reading through reviews, I became aware that many people had issues with the required app and setup process but I've had no such issues. The reader works consistently and lasts me for a whole day out busking without having to recharge. It makes it much easier to take payments and donations without having to rely on people carrying cash! Its not rated for water resistance but a little rain exposure hasn't damaged it yet in my experience and I'll be using this for the foreseeable future!

Ordered this for payments in my business. After installing app on my phone I went through a verification process which the app warned might take 72 hours. After 72 hours the app disappeared. Called the app up in playstore again, which provided new app for update. But this had no record of myaccount set up from a few days before. Tried to install new account. This does not recognise device, but offers mareting services (unwanted) and insists on debiting for a new device. Unable to contact Square on their website to sort . Therefore uninstalled from my phone. I've had no use of device so am returning.

Perfect for small concerns - Residents' Association , once on a while occasions

Got this for occasional use at pen shows. There are just 2 a year and I am not going to be trying to sell pens at everyone as that was just to reduce my collection. First time all was fine. Did not use the reader for about 21 months. Used it to test my mother's credit card with a 1p purchase as she stopped off at mine on her way on holiday. Worked fine. 3 months later I am at a pen show, connect to the reader, hardware failure. Does not say what and it connects by bluetooth but the software prevents me from even trying to use it. Of course I am now a week out of warranty... Are these designed to last just 2 years. Might just stick with NFC on my phone which is what I had to resort to.

I have thought so many of these now. Great value for money and easy to charge. Small and lightweight.

Decent quality, easy to connect to any mobile phone. Pretty same as sum up but cheaper.

I was very impressed with how easy this was to set up and get payments. I think for any small businesses you couldn't go wrong with it. I somehow managed to get pay by iphone set up first without realising which was my only confusion but truthfully having both options in case of emergencies is a plus. I think the charge of 1.75% is higher than we would otherwise pay for our terminal in branch but to be able to take a payment from anywhere in the world it is definitely worth the small extra charge.

Die Bedienung ist simpel, und technisch wirkt das Gerät absolut solide. Für den eigentlichen Zweck – kontaktloses Bezahlen per Karte, Apple Pay oder Google Pay – wäre es perfekt geeignet. Allerdings gibt es einen entscheidenden Nachteil: In Deutschland lässt sich das Gerät nicht registrieren oder aktivieren, was es hier praktisch unbrauchbar macht. Das ist besonders ärgerlich, wenn man es für den professionellen Einsatz gekauft hat. Optisch top, funktional leider ein kompletter Fehlkauf für den deutschen Markt.
