Saint Benedict's Prayer Book for Beginners

This hardback book of prayers is beautiful and useful. It contains daily prayers and the main well known Christian Catholic prayers, including The Rosary and The Stations of the Cross. It is well worth the cost.

Lovely book

I have been interested in buying a book with the Divine Office having stayed at Ampleforth, Buckfast and Prinknash. I was delighted to see this book was available. This excellent book has the morning, evening and night-time prayer as well as a guide to prepare for Confession, prayers for Communion and some well known and perhaps not so well known prayers. I find the prayers inspiring and comforting especially if I have had a difficult, stressful day at work or at home. It is well presented and I use it daily. It is light and easy to carry and I shall be taking it on my travels. You won't need to load it on your Kindle! If you are looking for a companion publication, I would recommend 'Wisdom from the Monastery' by Patrick Barry OSB and others (ISDN 5-06500-982041) which covers St Benedicts Rule and how to use it in everyday life. If you are interested in a CD, check out 'Visions of Peace' by the Monks of Ampleforth Abbey' (ISDN 5-065000-982041) which has a sung version of the night-time office.

The best book I bought this year

This hard to find book was readily available, arrived early. Very reasonably priced. Was very nice for anyone who is interested in a prayer book, but especially nice because of the St. Benedict Prayers. Daily prayers are organized, and much better than a generic daily prayer book. Excellent quality, gold lettering makes it especially nice.

There are not enough words to describe how big an impact this little prayer book has had on my spiritual life. I was always one to have trouble finding the words while my intentions were pure and this book has given me the help I needed, it gave me a “voice” to speak with God on the regular and praise him and love him consistently. It is very easy to get your morning, evening, and night prayers in with this book. It has a “two week” schedule for praying. It contains the traditional prayers, reconciliation prayers, for communion, prayers for the sick the dying and the dead, litanies, the marian prayers, and more… I’m moved by the words every time and I feel so close to god nowadays. I cannot recommend this book enough.. it has greatly enhanced my spiritual life and relationship with God simply by offering words I have always felt and a way of prayer I’ve always wanted, but couldn’t express or organize it this way myself. In my eyes together with the Bible an absolute MUST HAVE for any god fearing Christian.
