These vise jaws were not designed specifically with heat resistance in mind. While these jaws are perfectly capable in a hot environment, if they are exposed to a direct flame they will slowly deform. It is recommended to keep these out of a direct flame and instead search for metal vise or PTFE vise jaws. **Q: Can these be cut shorter?** A: They can be cut shorter, but not by a whole lot. If you cut too much off of either end you'll be cutting into some of the grooves or possibly the magnets. You may be able to cut a half inch off of each side.
