Power Liftgate Support Shock Struts Compatible with 2013-2018 RAV4 2.5L

Seems risky to give a five star rating to what basically looks pretty similar to the OEM stuff. Easy install, easy calibration, quiet. Time will tell. Been about 8 weeks of almost daily use. 2022 Highlander purchased used with 28k miles. The struts seemed noisy at the time but our old car was very quiet (replaced our RX350 running well @ 210k miles). Struts failed completely (wife wouldn't use gate) at about 44K after a few weeks noise, jerkiness and complaining, it often would not close at all without pulling down pretty hard. Anyway, so far so good. I might order another set just in case. $189?

Installation took a little patience, but it was a straightforward swap for me. I supported the liftgate first, changed one side at a time, and checked the connections before letting it carry its own weight. With both struts installed, the hatch opened and stayed up like it should. It also comes down smoothly, without the sudden drop that had me ducking. We use the Tahoe most days, so that hatch gets opened constantly for groceries, backpacks, and sports gear. I noticed the difference when I could set a bag down without bracing the hatch with my shoulder. That made me glad I replaced the old supports. They do the job, and I don’t have to remind the kids to watch their heads every time they reach into the back. For an older family vehicle, it’s a handy fix that makes loading up less of a hassle.

I bought these struts for my 2016 RAV4 XLE because the old ones kept dropping on my head during grocery runs 😅. Install was pretty straightforward. I watched a quick YouTube clip, grabbed my ladder, and used it to hold the liftgate up while I swapped each side. Took me maybe 20 minutes. They snapped on with a firm push and lined up right away. The liftgate now pops open smoothly and actually stays up, even in my cold garage. I’m glad I skipped the dealer markup and went with these instead. One small thing that made me happy is hearing that solid “whoosh” again when the hatch lifts. Feels like the car is newer. 🚗

I bought these rear lift supports for my home office delivery shed because my old tailgate kept dropping. The install was mostly straightforward, but the fit was a little tight and took extra adjusting. One side feels weaker after a week, so I am not trusting it fully. They do move the door up, just not as steady as I wanted. 🙃🔧

Fit and worked perfectly on my 2023 highlander hybrid. Install is not as simple as 5 mins, removing the connectors was challenging. Saved me a big amount compared to dealer prices. Its been 2 weeks now, no issues so far! Its very quiet in operation. No other steps like resetting codes or programming required. It was plug and play!

They work well. Only drawback is the electric lift only opens approximately 70% leaving you to open it the rest of the way by hand. (Unless there is some programming you have to do that I'm unaware of.)

These work better than the original. Exact match. From the mounting points to the electronic harness, this was a perfect fit. Took me less that 5 minutes to install them in my Highlander and was plug and play. Highly recommended.

These are absolutely perfect. I have had the a few months and they work just like the originals. Extremely easy to install.

this is a preliminary review from july 2025 right after install. i will try to remember to update but if do not update just assume it's still working. this product installed easily in our 2013 rav4 limited using a youtube video as a guide and using only a 10mm socket, a 10mm wrench and a plastic trim plug prybar. it took maybe 40 minutes. the only part i found missing for the replacement install is that there should be two protective gaskets between the body and the upper hinge plates and i could not reuse the old ones. everything else lined up and fit perfectly. the only change i made to the install videos online is that i put blue loctite on the 4 hinge attachment bolts since i could see that had been done at the factory and i unplugged, removed and thoroughly cleaned the sensor trim pieces during the install. this added about 5 minutes to the install which took 30 minutes all in. these struts look to be of good quality in terms of fit and finish and in fact appear to be identical to the factory original other than the fact the number "909" is stamped on the hinge parts. even the joining crimps on the tubes appear to be the same as the original. the struts also each come in a nice custom styrofoam case although the top hinges are loosely fitted into an unsecured opening in the foam and could fall out. all in all it looks very like oem quality. time will tell on that. after installation it worked perfectly immediately. we had spent considerably time trying to troubleshoot why the hatch was intermittently working and now it is clear the factory struts were worn out. our symptoms were intermittent 2 beeps or long beep and intermittent failure to close and then intermittent failure to open and then total failure to move. various factory resets and cleaning the sensors on the body didn't work. update: 4 months later and still working great.

The liftgate struts were compatible to my vehicle and installation was straightforward. No modifications were required at all. I've waited for awhile before posting this review just to make sure that there were no "hiccups" with its operation. Remarkably, if anything, they actually seem to raise and lower the tailgate slightly quicker that the original struts did. I'm very glad I went with this option to replace the original struts.
