Works great!
Excellent! I desoldered the little anti static blob and installed it in about 10 minutes. I put new white lithium grease on the slide rod and worm gear. I put it back together after I checked for functionality and it works great and spooled up even majorly scratched dvd games. Thank you!

Works Great—Just Be Patient with Install
It took me two tries to get this lens working properly. The first one wouldn’t slide—just made a grinding noise. The second did the same until I reseated it several times. Honestly, I’m not sure if the issue was with the lens or something on my end. These aren’t complicated parts, and the slider ridge is the OEM one from my original lens. Could’ve been a power or alignment issue, but I was never able to get the original lens to do the same grinding, despite swapping it back on a dozen times. You would think if it was me, id mess up the original and the replacement, but i didn't. The solder ball came off easily—I held the lens upside down and let the solder melt and flow down the iron. Once installed, the replacement lens loads games at normal speed, and so far it’s been stable. I don’t plan on using the PS2 heavily, but I’m hopeful this lens will hold up over time. Worked perfectly with my PS2 Slim, and now I’m back to playing my original GTA games. The seller’s support was solid too. Great buy if you’re ready to be a little patient with installation. Don't be too worried if you don't solder, it was only a couple seconds of pressure on the ball and it liquefied instantly and came off.

Uh-oh my bad
I play 3 Jak & Daxter games on my ancient PS2, (model 70012, I'm guessing it's the 12th of the 7000 series?) that's all I play. Anyway, the laser went out and I bought this because replacement was cheap enough to at least try to see if it would fix the problem of erroring out and saying I'd removed the disc when I hadn't, then cuts cenes dropped, then black screen. I'm a 72 year old lady with no experience with electronic repairs at all! YouTube definitely helped even though none of them I watched had EXACTLY my PS2 slim model. When they say the screws are tiny they mean it! I ended up using the little philips head screw driver that came from an eyeglass repair kit I bought at the Dollar store for a buck. All I had was the silicone spray my garage door repairman gave me - sprayed onto a Qtip - to grease up the screw rod. That wasn't very good so make sure you have an actual 'grease' on hand and not a spray. The second time I opened the case I had real lithium grease that, on a Qtip, I spread on the screw rod. Maybe it didn't need it but if you have the case open might as well clean and grease as best you can. If your PS2 is not playing you have nothing to lose by purchasing this replacement laser. I AM SO HAPPY I DID. Now I can continue to play my favorite (and only) games. This laser replacement was fantastic and I'm so pleased with it. **EDIT** After replacing the laser I noticed an unusual sound as I played. I took the disc out and it had circular marks on it. After checking on YouTube again I found out that the orange band (that holds all the wires) that I removed when installing the laser lens was too high and was rubbing on the disc as it turned. A YouTube guy used double sided tape, blah, blah, blah but all I did was press it down to put a slight crease in the band until it stayed low. Works great now.

DVD laser diode failed after one year
The DVD laser diode stopped working after only about a year of normal use (the CD laser is still fine). It was not abused or heavily run, but it simply failed and no longer reads DVDs. Based on this experience, the component quality seems poor. I recommend looking for a higher-quality replacement part, and that's what I shall be doing.

Now I can play my library of Ps2
Great replacement, bought a PS2 from someone and it worked besides the laser lens so had get this part. A four as an optimistic review as it's always a coin toss for third-party parts integrity

works great, lousy packaging
This laser works great in my PS2 as a replacement for my old dying laser. It doesn't come with instructions so I had to go back on Amazon to reference the picture of where I was supposed to remove the solder. I also assumed the plastic bag it comes in would be taped or sealed shut. Nope. I took the laser out of its tiny box, turned it over to look at it and the laser slid right out of the plastic and fell on my floor.

As stated above. Installed correctly, was definetly the right part for the job, still failed after a week anyways.

If your ps2 is having difficulties reading DVD's or CD's, this is the solution for you. Just make sure your console uses this laser. Even though they mention is does not work with the 75xx that is not true, My 75001 has this exact laser head and I installed it and works perfectly fine. Please note, not all 75XX series have this laser so its at your own risk. I am now able to play all my DVD games and CD games are more consistent.

Very happy with the product. Used for a 75001 PS2. Followed a YouTube video and it worked perfectly. Note: it has a really small black plastic piece on a hinge at the ribbon cable connector to secure it. Took me a bit to figure that out. And you have to desolder the bead. Also on YouTube. I know nothing about electronics and was able to do it.

The unit arrived on time and I was able to install it without any hassle. My PS2 Slim now reads disks again without any hassle or delay.

DVD laser only worked for about 15 minutes. CD laser was fine. I tested the potentiometers and everything with a digital multimeter. It's just a really defective DVD laser. UPDATE: Seller quickly refunded and took care of return shipping very easily. Stars updated to 2. Currently giving it another try, will update rating upon installation of 2nd laser.
