Aquatix Pro Pool Winterizing Plug Premium 1.5" to 2", Stainless Steel Bolts

This winterizing plug is one of those pool hacks I wish someone had told me about sooner. I used to mess around with those twist-in pieces for the skimmer, but if you don’t line up the threads just right? Good luck getting them back out—total nightmare. This plug is so much easier. I keep a few on hand to quickly seal the skimmer when I’m clearing debris from the pump, and of course, it’s perfect for winterizing just like the name suggests. Simple, effective, and way less hassle than the alternatives. Highly recommend for every pool owner!

Nice quality plugs.

Product seems to be of good quality however I had a 1.5” hole needing to be plugged and the product says fits 1.5-2” hole. I could not get it to fit it was just barely too big so if you have a 1.5” hole consider next size down

Very durable and a great price.

I originally bought the Aquatix Pro Premium 1.7"–2" Swimming Pool Winter Expansion Plug to winterize some outdoor plumbing, but ended up using it in a completely different way — and it worked perfectly. I needed a temporary, watertight seal for the water drain line that runs from my kitchen sink to the outside of the house. This plug fit snugly into the pipe, tightened down easily, and created an impressively secure seal with zero leaks. Once expanded, it didn’t budge at all, even with water pressure behind it. The build quality is excellent — sturdy rubber, solid metal hardware, and it feels far more durable than the typical hardware store plugs. It’s clear this is made to withstand harsh conditions for pool winterizing, which probably explains why it handled my plumbing job without any issues. If you ever need a reliable way to block off a drain pipe, test plumbing, or temporarily stop water flow, this plug is incredibly versatile. What started as a pool accessory turned into a household plumbing hero. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a dependable expansion plug for more than just pool use!

I was going to use these to temporarily plug my skimmers while I look for a pressure leak. I'm sure it would work fine on the returns, but skimmers have 2" openings, and I almost dropped it down the hole. If it can reach 2 inches, that's an absolute maximum and not usable in a 2" hole.

Do people test their products before selling them? As other reviewers have noted, this stopper will NOT fit in a 1.5" hole. It will also NOT fit in a 2" hole, since the top is not wide enough, it slides all the way in a 2" hole and is nearly impossible to get out. It might be useful in a 1.75" hole, but that's it. AND, the wingnut does not work. Its supposed to flatten (and therefore expand) the rubber a little for a tighter fit, but the screw just spins with the wingnut so its impossible to tighten. I suspect it will then leak through the screw hole, but I can't test it because I have a 2" pipe. And for 9 bucks, its not worth returning. What a waste.
