How does this connect to the router?

People here are getting confused. There are two different models here. One of them has a built in Wi-fi extender which extends an existing Wi-fi network from your current router. When installed the blue led flashes and you use your phone to connect to the sockets Wi-fi network called BG. Once connected you use your phone to connect to bg.repeater.net which then guides you through to select your own router network. From there you enter your current Wi-fi network password and then confirm. You also need to make sure the tick box on this page is ticked so the socket also takes on the same network name and password as your current network. All your devices will then connect to this socket when in range and treat it as if it was your current network. The setup is very easy and takes about 2 mins minus the actual installation of the unit to the mains supply.

Does this extend my existing wifi network OR will it create a second ‘new’ wifi network?

Old question, but this can do BOTH as I discovered when I set mine up earlier. Select the current wifi to grab the signal and then select if you wish to extend with current details or create a new one. No disadvantage to either option.

Are the usb terminals wired seprately. or does the whole thing just get wired in, as would a standard wall socket without usb terminals?

Wire as a standard socket the USB ports then become "live"

How easy is it to install this? Is it like a normal wall socket?

Very easy and as normal. Remove the cables from the normal one and fix it to this one.The cables are colour coded so you wouldn't get it wrong. You can take a photo of your old wiring from the plug so that you can ref to it.
