I usually use premium filtration, but when I saw this, I thought I would give it a try, as it is 1) portable 2) easy to use. Note that I used this as a standalone ( not in the Brita bottle where you insert this disc in ), so not sure if that matters, but I did notice a difference when using this filter. For my purpose, I just placed the disc in a glass bottle and poured water, and shook the bottle occasionally to have the water mix with the filter. The longer I left the water sit with the filter, the better the water tasted ( so I assume the filter was doing its job ). The biggest pro of this disc filter is its' portability. From having come back from travels ( where I am dependent on obtaining water from plastic bottles in supermarkets :( ), it is good to have portable filtration ability. These discs are lightweight, individually packaged, and so easy to use. Initially, I could taste a more alkaline taste when using this filter ( as is often the case with carbon filtration ), but eventually, this taste went away to deliver more clear taste. It does an o-kay job. It filters somewhat to my liking, but I am using it to filter bottled water!
