Sony MRW-S1 High Speed UHS-II SD Memory Card Reader

If you shoot raw on a high resolution camera (like the A7R IV) this is a must have. It's well made, super fast and utterly reliable. Using cheap SD card readers for your very expensive cards means you miss out on the read performance and speand more time waiting for files to be transfered, but not with this - full speed all of the time. If your're a professional photographer and value your time, this is for you.

I was looking for a decent SD card reader, I have a Gaming PC as you know, Gaming PC cases don't have SD card bay slots. I found this Sony memory card reader on amazon and thought I give it try. So far I am impressed , its really fast at reading SD cards, I tested it by inserting my NeXT base SD dashcam footage , its recorded in 1440p resolution/ MP4 file and it was instant file access , it was playing video's within seconds . I skipped videos files , fast forwarded and there was no delay or lag, in comparison my dell i7 laptop inbuilt SD card reader was lot slower at opening files compared to the Sony. The unit is well built and very compact , it has a removable lid to protect the usb port, i wish they had attached the lid to the unit with short string, there chance you might lose it or misplace it. I wholly recommend this for anyone who want a fast usb card reader .

Feels a bit light and plastic but, does the job well so pleased with this card reader,well it is Sony so i do expect quality but, it is expensive for a light plastic feel.

This is very easy to use and is a super fast way to upload photographs. It is well made and east to fit and remove.

I purchased this item June 6 2024. Up to now I have always found Sony products to be reliable and of good quality. Although I have had the card reader about 7 months it has probably had less than 5 hours use. It has now stopped working. At first I thought that there was a problem with my PC so wasted time trying to find any faults. I then tried another card reader and that worked with no problems. To add to my disappointment the Amazon returns procedure sends me round in circles so at the moment I can't even report or return the item. Not at all happy.

Me compré una tarjeta UHS II para mi cámara de fotos, y me encontré con que no tenía ningún lector que aprovechase toda la velocidad de estas tarjetas. En casa, tenía dos lectores de tarjetas SD. El del ordenador, que es el más lento de todos, y uno de marca Transcend que soporta UHS I. Como os he comentado, me plantee comprarme un lector UHS II para aprovechar toda la velocidad de estas tarjetas. Una vez recibido, he hecho unas pruebas para ver si merece o no la pena. Me he animado a compartirlas con vosotros, ya que no he encontrado datos de este tipo en ningún sitio. He usado tres tarjetas para hacer las pruebas: --Sony UHS II de 64 GB: ( enlace ) --Lexar Profesional UHS II de 32 GB 1000x: ( enlace ) --Sandisk Extreme Pro UHS I de 128GB de 95 MB/s: ( enlace ) Los lectores he usado el de este anuncio, y este otro: ( enlace ). La comparación no es muy justa, ya que un lector es UHS II, mientras que el otro es UHS I. Pero me he decidido a compararlos para que veáis si merece la pena comprar uno u otro en función de las tarjetas que tengáis y de los resultados obtenidos. Comentar que todas las pruebas se han hecho, como es lógico, en el mismo puerto USB del mismo PC, para que se puedan extraer conclusiones. Los resultados los puedes ver en la última foto de la reseña. Como puedes ver en esa foto, los mejores resultados se obtienen con la tarjeta y el lector Sony. Se obtienen valores de R245 MB/s y W257,7 MB/s. No obstante, están aproximadamente un 20% por debajo de los prometidos por Sony. En la tarjeta Lexar, que promete valores de 150 MB/s, vuelve a quedar un 16% por debajo de los valores. En cambio en la tarjeta SanDisk los resultados si corresponden con los prometidos. Aunque te recuerdo que es una tarjeta UHS I en vez de II. Los valores obtenidos con el lector Transcend, son, como era de esperar inferiores al del lector Sony, pero lo que es sorprendente es que también son inferiores en las tarjetas que son sólo UHS I. CONCLUSIONES ¿Y qué nota le das? ¿Me lo recomiendas? Estas dos preguntas son las que todos nos hacemos cuando compramos cualquier dispositivo, y la respuesta es siempre la misma: DEPENDE DE PARA QUÉ LO USES Y CUÁLES SEAN TUS EXPECTATIVAS. Si ya tienes un lector de tarjetas UHS I, y la mayoría de las tarjetas que tienes son también UHS I o UHS II 150 MB/s, entonces no creo que te merezca la pena. La diferencia de velocidad es muy pequeña. Si por el contrario, tienes varias tarjetas UHS II de 300 MB/s y no tienes lector de tarjetas UHS I o UHS II, entonces pienso que es una gran compra. Te pongo a continuación cuáles son sus puntos fuertes y débiles para ayudarte a decidir. PUNTOS FUERTES: --Artículo con buenos acabados. --Obtienes las mejores velocidades en tarjetas UHS II. --Tamaño contenido. Lo puedes guardar en cualquier sitio, como por ejemplo la bolsa de la cámara en un viaje. --En unos pocos días lo tienes en casa y con la garantía que da Amazon. PUNTOS DÉBILES: --El único que se le puede encontrar, es que no te cuadre el precio que tenga en el momento que lo mires.
