Perfect fit, superior handling, great storage in compact package.
Great 10/22 takedown upgrade. Secure barely retention, comb hatch stores 3 magazine with no rattling. Grip has small storage- fits a Bic lighter. I have the Stainless version matched with olive color stock color. Added qd inserts and a sling. Great high quality product.

Great custom addition for 10/22 takedown
This is an outstanding addition to a 10/22 takedown rifle. Very simple to install; attaches via the two machine screws standard on the rifle. The foregrip is somewhat shorter than the stock 10/22 foregrip, but easy to get used to. One of the best features is the storage hatch in the butt of the stock that will hold three, 10-round mags. Comes with optional cheek riser for an optic, and a standard-height riser (these are the door of the storage hatch). Also a water-tight storage area in the hand grip for ammo or other. No barrel strap is needed on the foregrip (like the standard stock), and the barrel only makes contact with the stock at two small points. Very compact when collapsed and fits together securely for compact transport. I have this stock on two 10/22 takedowns - one with the older vertical-style case and one with the newer horizontal style case. Fits very well in both cases, much more compactly than with the standard stock. I have red dot sites on both and these still fit in the cases easily. The FDE color looks great with the stainless rifle and I have a grey stock on the black rifle. The grey color stock isn't my favorite as it has a lot of bluish-tint to it, but still looks good. Highly recommended.

Perfect upgrade to my 10/22 takedown!
Just what I was looking for! This is a game changer for my 10/22. Makes it much easier to carry when itโs out of the bag the rifle came with. Fits perfect! Looks great! I love the fact that you can carry three extra mags in the stock out of the way. Quality product that functions flawlessly. Looks to be very durable. Thanks for making these!

The best stock for your Takedown!
Super clever design that manages to make the already hilariously portable 10/22 Takedown even easier to pack away without sacrificing ergonomics, which are actually improved noticeably with the dual comb options (low for irons, high for optics). In keeping with the backpacking theme, there's also cleverly integrated storage for magazines, tools and/or accessories in the top and pistol grip of the stock. Installs in five minutes and accommodates both standard profile and bull barrels with a simple flip of a plug. This stock continues the tradition of high quality materials and manufacture that have made Magpul a staple among AR15 owners while coming in at a very reasonable price. The only things I would like to see as improvements would be to include QD sling mounts (there are recesses on both sides of the stock for them, but the cups and screws aren't included) and possibly the inclusion of M-LOK or MOE slots on the forend for accessory mounting. Given the stock's other virtues and the price, I can't really subtract a star, though.

This takes your 10/22 Takedown to a whole new level
This takes your Ruger 10/22 takedown to the next level. The 10/22 takedown is a great rifle. But I can't imagine now having one without the x-22 stock. Pros. - Great storage (inside the stock for extra mags etc) - The stock is solid (better than the original) - The barrel and forestock fit securely into the buttstock (more secure than I thought it would be) - The textured finish really makes this nice for gripping the rifle in damp conditions. Neg. - It doesn't come with the QD inserts or sling mounts (more money) - The higher cheek riser makes the original sights unusable because it raises your sightline too high. - It could have been cleaned up a bit more from the injection molding process (easy to do with a pocket knife or raiser blade) **The Neg. might have caused me to drop a star or half a star on most products. However, this stock in the other areas exceeds my expectations and I would give this a 5 1/2 star if I could. I would recommend getting the "Magpul Industries Magpul Ind X-22 Backpacker Optic Mount CORPORATION X-22 Backpacker Optic Mount Picatinny" Magpul Industries Magpul Ind X-22 Backpacker Optic Mount CORPORATION X-22 Backpacker Optic Mount Picatinny

Stock required to maintain zero on 22 breakdown rifle.
If you own a Ruger 22 takedown then this stock is required. Why? Because it is the only way to accurately shoot the rifle. I have messed with my 22 takedown and lots of other people's and it is simply impossible to maintain a zero with the removable barrel - if you mount a sight on the picatinny rail. Over half of the rifles I've checked and tested the barrel is loose. Easy to test - just put the stock but on the ground and grab the front sight with one hand. With your second hand push and pull at the connection point of the breakdown. Is it loose? If the barrel is loose how can you expect to maintain a zero? I finally figured out a way to tighten the 22 takedown connection so there is almost no movement possible. Over-tighten the threaded sleeve and make connecting the barrel extremely difficult but twisting it on creates a super tight mount. But, after shooting tests I am still unable to maintain a repeatable zero. Good luck with these methods.... LOL So the solution is the Magpul stock, because you can mount a small rail (X-22 Backpacker Optic Mount) under the front hand grip and on the barrel portion of the 22 breakdown. Once your sight attached to the barrel is zeroed you have a maintainable zero and accurate rifle. The other benefits of this breakdown stock are extra nice to have in addition to an accurate rifle. Other reviewers mention these benefits, so I will not repeat them. I added some Type 1 & 2 Quick Detach (QD) sockets to the two mounting points and added a QD sling to my rifle. All these additions add to the overall cost - which is a negative - but basing these capabilities on the foundation of an accurate rifle makes it worthwhile. PS: Based on some recommendations from experts out the range I'm using a red dot sight and it works great.

BUY IT , LOVE IT , SHOOT IT !!
Had been looking for a good stock for my 10/22 takedown for a long time . But all the underfolders and sidefolders seemed a little too mall ninja for me . So I held off . I found this magpul backpacker that actually had multiple utility functions I could actually use !! I carry my takedown in a 5.11 Rush 72 pack . And prior to the magpul the forend and rear set would be in there but could get jostled around if you were banging around the woods. I have a Nikon BDC 150 .22lr scope on my takedown and it was always getting banged up by the barrel side . Did not like that . Now ? The barrel is afixed to the rear stock so it is no longer banging into the scope. I love the fact it comes with 2 cheek rests for scope/no scope. Very handy and you get a good cheek weld on the nikon . rear storage could not accomodate a 50rd box of Elay match due to its wider case mashing up against the partition channels. But did accomodate Remington thunderbolt cardboard box of 50. grip storage accomodates a bic lighter or leatherman micra Also the flat dark earth is much darker than the stock photo and even customer pictures ( due to flash ? ) which I liked. The light tan stock photo made me wished I bought the OD green stock but when it got here it was a much darker shade of tan which I liked. Installation took 2 minutes with my leatherman Surge multi tool large flathead I'm very happy with my new magpul takedown rifle :D

Its perfect for my purpose. And not disappointed
Everyone complains about gap whether on here or on other website reviews . So before i took it out of ruger stock. I saw theres a gap there as well. So not worried. This stock is also a tighter fit yhan the original ruger stock i had some sloppy movement between handgaurd/barrel to receiver. This is alot tighter though it does have movement but barely. As for the gap for handgaurd to barrel. I like extra clearance for standard barrel. And the handgaurd is a little short but i found works better for me. I wrap my index finger at end and pull rifle into shoulder. This helps me from pulling to one side. Instead it helps me pull straight back. But every shooter is different. For me this is a great stock and i like the extra compartment in buttstock for extra mags and ammo. And way it clips together to throw in backpack. I will be buying a magpul stock for a non takedown 1022 and building a sweet bench rifle one. But for this rifle to throw in pack for hiking or camping or in truck for the dirt roads. Its perfect for my purpose.

Got what I wanted...
The Magpul is a bit shorter than the standard 10/22 take down stock, but that does not bother me and I'm 6'2". Just follow the youtube video, the install is easy.
