## Description

Product Description The Marine Band 1896 is the archetypal blues harmonica. Almost unchanged since it was patented in 1896, this iconic instrument embodies the real deep blues like no other and is the benchmark against which all others are judged. Initially designed for European folk music, it quickly became a prominent voice of American blues of the early 20th century, played by all harmonica players of this era. It’s the soundtrack of broken hearts and dancing all night, of endless prairies and sweaty nightclubs. Like no other harmonica, the Marine Band 1896 is an invitation to express yourself in music, a key to unlock your creativity. When you discover this piece of living musical history, you won’t just play the blues. You’ll feel the blues. Safety Warning Clean with a dry, soft cloth

Review: Simply the best - The Hohner Marine band harmonicas are good quality instruments that are reliable and stay good for many years if not abused. I have one I can still use that is 30 years old but was never played too much because it's in B and I use the C and G ones most of the time. I was surprized at the price last time I tried to replace the C and G harmonicas and made the mistake of buying a cheaper model from a Glasgow music shop. You can't try them out now a day's as it's a health and safety issue. I only wasted my money on other brands. The Hohner is simply the best. Cheaper brands of harmonicas would put you off ever learning to play as they don't stay in tune and have not a consistent full chord sound. You need to blow them harder too. They are literally a waste of breath. Don't waste your money on anything less than a Hohner. This firm are selling them at a good price and the freepost service although it can take a week or more is OK. I bought 2 in the same order and they can post them through your letterbox if you are out which is great because I hate having to wait in for the postman.
Review: Its what Bob Dylan used - I am a guitar player but new to harmonica. I bought this one because I read that Bob Dylan used it, that was my entire criteria and to be honest that's probably all you need to know. It sounds nice, but I have nothing to compare it to. Bob Dylan probably did though. It comes in a box. Bob Dylan maybe got the same box, who can tell. In conclusion, this is the harmonica used by Bob Dylan on hits such as The times they are a changin'. If its good enough for him it is good enough for you.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this plastic display box come inside a sealed/tear open box? I want unused due to obvious hygiene reasons. Thanks**
A: No it’s come in the plastic box and is wrapped up . It is new .

**Q: Are the cover plates nailed on or screwed on? Thanks**
A: They're screwed in (flat groove, not Philips) - although the groove is so small you would need a precision screwdriver set to remove them. I've not had the need to do this, though.

**Q: Hows this different to a hohner blues harp? Im a beginner wanting to play along with my guitar, which is best ?**
A: Hi friend, with the G harp you’ll have a great easy to learn instrument. A blues harp is a mouth organ/harmonica, albeit under the ‘banner’ of the blues harp. If you’re gonna play in a band, you may wanna consider get’n a set of harps over the time (depending on the key you’re playing in), on the premise, that not everything you’ll play will be in C . Happy harping

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A G-reat Harmonica in the key of G!
*by B***E on 19 May 2013*

A fantastic, high quality harmonica made by one of the world's most well-known and trusted manufacturers. This instrument has responsive reeds (particularly good for bending notes) and produces a rich, professional-sounding tone. As a beginner, I've found the lower register a little more challenging to perfect than that of my C harp, but it's well worth the effort! Overall, I'm delighted with this Hohnher Marine Brand harmonica in G, which is key required for all those players looking to imitate (and maybe emulate!) Neil Young's famous 'Heart of Gold' solos.
