Brought this as a gift for a friends birthday after her mentioning that she wanted to have a go at making her own, but after having a sneaky flick through I kept it for myself! Purchased the basics mentioned in the book and yesterday I made my first candle! The Mason glass one, and I have to say I'm very impressed. The book is idiot proof and highlights ability level for each candle so I'd say this book is great for first timers as well as people that have done it before as there are quite a few tricky ones too. Can't wait to make more this weekend, I'm looking at empty jars in a whole different way and saving a few quid as I often buy candles but can make my own now!

I would have loved to have given this book a five star rating. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and the pictures are beautiful. Where the book seems to let itself down is the lack of referencing on where to purchase the materials needed. I spent a long time surfing the internet trying to find the materials recommended to make the candles. I eventually found some really good wholesale suppliers, but I wonder if they are the ones the author would have used?. For example, to find one of the moulds specified, I had to resort to Amazon because I have, to date, been unable to find said item on any of the suppliers websites.. Thus, it would have been easier if a few pointers had been provided, and I think this is the book's only drawback! In addition, I am well aware that any online businesses can come and go, but surely any information or references on potential suppliers can be updated periodically!. Other than that, it really is a great start for the hobbyist as well as the aspiring Chandler, with many beautiful photographs which add inspiration and charm. and the instructions are clear and concise.. The author has also added a link to their own website, as well as another link where the reader can purchase more books on the subject. Overall, I can highly recommend this book.

Nice book, well written with lots of pictures. Reading the book from cover to cover, and if I had all ingredients needed. The instruction in the book are so well written and in an easy step by step format. I feel I could make any one of the many candles included within the book . Only thing holding you back would be your imagination, once you've got the basic idea and basic equipment to hand.

Very easy to follow instructions, just right for a beginner. Good value for money. Wanted a book to help start a hobby for my husband and I to do together,this fulfils our needs at the moment.

This is a great book for anyone starting candle making. It’s very informative and the step by step pictures are really helpful and calculations are easy to understand.
