I mainly use it to store cooked food right after cooking, it keeps your leftover or cooked meal fresh longer (up to a week around 34 degrees actually with fresh cooked food). You can store hot soup, chilli, stir fry, grill chicken, grill steak, fry chicken, beef stew, rice... straight off the grill or stove top safely in this steel container. The container will get hot quick so you can use your own judgment on how to safely handle the container during the transfer of the cooked food into the container. One good thing is that after transferring the cooked food into the container, you can lock on the lid to safely transfer the food to where you want to place it since it has a little handle on the top of lid that swivels up. The bad part is that if you leave the lid locked on to the container when the food is hot and then the food cools down, there's a vacuum suction with the silicone seal on the lid that is almost impossible to get the lid off. You can't lock the lid on to the container when the food is hot. The good thing is that you can use the lid as a cover until the food cools down before locking up the lid. And just by placing the lid on top of the container, the silicone seal creates a good enough seal around the container to keep the seasoning aroma of the cooked food from overwhelming your refrigerator (literally there is no food smell).
