Airwolf: The Movie

Charles Henry Moffet (David Hemmings) and his crew steal a high tech Helicopter that makes an Apache gunship look as harmless as a pea shooter from the USA. A test pilot, Stringfellow Hamke played by Jan Micheal Vincent is asked by the CIA ( The Firm ) to try and retrieve the stolen helicopter. The plot is great, well worth getting just for the sake of owning this classic piece of TV history, Im not going to spoil the plot by letting you know what happens, its just too good to miss.

It is great that that it is possible to beable to go in time to watch films that led on to a fantastic series and it helps bring back happy memories of when I went out for a drink the main topic was airwolf and what you could do a helicopter like airwolf and of course the young Jean bruce scot. it's a must see film and the seires that goes with the film. I will give this film 10 out of10.

Loved the series and brought the film

This is the re-edited version of the Airwolf pilot, created for the VHS market in the 80s to compete with the Blue Thunder movie. They re-arranged some scenes, slowed down some of the action scenes to appear more violent, added a different sequence with Airwolf, and removed a couple of scenes that set up the rest of the series. The 18 certificate is really for the added swearing in a few places which is rather crudely edited into the soundtrack, and some extra dialogue describing the main villain as a serial rapist. It's nice to see this version, but the broadcast pilot is much better and how it was meant to be seen. Also it's worth noting this seems to be taken from an old tape master not from a film master, so picture quality wise isn't great. One for fans of the series, but casual fans are better off sticking to the series and it's better version of the pilot.

Ive had the R18 version of the Airwolf movie on VHS for a number of years & was very disappointed when the Season One DVD Box set was released & failed to include the "Movie Cut" of the pilot. Not many people had the Movie Release & it was only ever rented on VHS in the UK, so buying it wasn't that easy. Its nice to see this on a better format (DVD/BR) But its a shame it hasn't been remastered & to Up Scale it on HD Tv's doesn't do it justice. I rate it 5 Stars because i am rating the movie. The product i would rate a 3 Star, simply because Universal Studios failed to include ANY extras at all & essentially just released this to get it out the way & stop fans nagging for it. They put zero effort into the packaging or the Transfare from tape to disk. If you own the VHS release & your looking to replace it with a DVD version, you may wish to consider buying the R1 release rather than the region 2 (apparently the USA NTSC release has an extra item, an interview with ernest borgnine) Although you would need to have a DVD player capable of playing R1 if your in a R2 country

A classic 80’s tv show with a theme tune that still gives me goosebumps to this day. A fun story that’s an enjoyable watch. I’m only giving three stars though as this Blu-ray version is in name only, no remastering so still in grainy 4:3 format

DVD case is a bit floppy as it is out of cardboard, however quality of DVD's is great. Good buying experience, would buy again.
