Review: Golf book review - Old school golf swing which relates to a more natural swing which can be retain even in your twilight years. As apposed the modern swing that needs a more flexible frame. Great book to read written by a golfer who went onto play golf with a leg missing. Which he lost during 1st world war. Review: Imagine swinging a weight at the end of a string - Excellent book. I have played golf all my life and played off scratch at one point. I was struggling with my game and came across this book after listening to the On The Mark podcast by Mark Immelman. This so different to modern teaching and means you create incredible club head speed and the centrifugal force keeps the club head on plane. In fact, the faster you swing the straighter it goes. Works for short chips too. I used it this weekend to get my first ever hole in one. 216 yd’s into the wind with a 3 iron. Never left the flag. Try this method. You will be surprised and also it requires much less effort so you will not be so tired after playing a round.

The simplicity of the golf swing
Many people playing golf are overfocused on the technique of the golfswing. They are unwilling to acknowledge that following and being true to a few simple principles, golf is easy. Do not overthink when playing. This book is great on these aspects.

Simple Golf
I've long been a fan of Ernest Jones' "Swing the Clubhead" method ever since I first read of it in Ken Adwick's articles in the Golf World magazine back in 60s or 70s. The fundamental theory of the book is that you can't move the clubhead faster than you can swing it. I believe that Jones is largely right in his assessment that all other body positions are followers rather than leaders of the clubhead. They occur as the natural movements / responses of the body to the act of swinging. You never focus on body movements when throwing a stone or a ball. You just do it naturally and with ease. Consequently, the body movements / positions should not be the focus of golf instruction. Some have commented that the book is too repetitious and I will grant that the message "swing the club head" is the chorous continuously repeated throughout the book. However, the repetition might be needed today to counteract much of the highly technical messages of golf instruction today based on analysis of photos and films of the tour pros. Ernest Jones would say that you don't hit the ball with your legs or forearms or hands. you hit it with the club head. So swing it.

The Golf Swing The Ernest Jones Method
What I understand from this book is that the golf swing is a motion whose force is centrifugal. Also, that this book looks very much like a new version of a part of another book by Ernest Jones entitled Swinging Into Golf Ernest Jones & Innis Brown i.e same chapters of part I. If you are interested in reading more about the golf swing the Ernest Jones method then don't just buy this book. Instead first look at the digital version of The Golf Swing The Ernest Jones Method by Daryn Hammond, Chatto & Windus 1920, on the Internet Archive, an original that has far more to offer, in my opinion, with illustrations, of Ernest Jones' method and principles of golf.

Follow this books instruction and save money and frustration! Ernest Jones is the greatest golf genius who ever lived! All his instructions are spot on. Forget all the other coaching and instructional Bull Crap out there. His books are all you’ll need. I’m 60 years old and this is my first year golfing regularly (4 nine hole rounds previously in my whole life) I’m Breaking 100 consistently and have shot a few rounds below 90. Golf is fun, enjoyable, and my swing is fluid and natural thanks to Mr Jones. Read and Enjoy along with his other book; The Golf Swing.
