Are bar and H style burners exchangeable?

Greetings John R., the answers provided thus far neglect to tell you why you need to use either style of burner and what options you may have. The venturi tube assemblies directly have very little to do with the burner, they are sized more so for fuel mixture and basic capacity of the grills cooking area and/or size of the original burner itself. Burners shape is all about the fresh air ports in the bottom of the grills enclosure. They need to be directly obscured under the burners profile for two reasons. First is ample air flow, and two, you will have a direct path to the patio floor for which a tremendous mess will be made. I made this swap to an H burner years ago and found out the hard way. I persevered thorough this by fabricating two 316 stainless plates with 1/2" high standoff bolts (also stainless) to block the debris fall through these openings. This also allowed the air flow underneath the H burner to pass sufficiently to where it need to go, it also provides a place for the debris to burn off. In my opinion, an H burner distributes heat much more evenly, it would be inadvisable to ever replace an H burner with an bar or oval type. I am much happier with the performance of my Grillmaster grill as a result of my upgrade. I'm on my second replacement H assembly and have a third new spare on standby to make my point. For the record, I still use a single layer of lava rock and ceramic briquettes, old school. What it boils down to is, be prepared and have resources to make modifications or replace with the same style. BTW, don't waste your time with cast iron burners as they are a tremendous maintenance head ache for what they cost. Good luck and gooood grilln'.

What is the length and width of the burner?

Greetings David, It's exactly 17-5/8" in width, 7" depth and 2" tall including standoffs (4 each). These measurements are from the one I haven't installed yet since I have bought two. This design disperses heat fairly well as my grill originally had a oval burner. I had to install two stainless plates with standoffs to shield debris over both original air inlet holes. Nicely keeps the mess inside too. Don't recommend cast iron burners, the holes keep rusting shut. If you have rolled up screens from your old tubes, try to put them in the new without obstructing the gas flow from the venturi to keep the spiders out.  Good luck with your repairs!

I move my grill a lot. Is there anything (e.g., bracket) that holds/secures this burner in place and prevents it from moving?

Yes.  A 'bar' that sits on the threaded legs on bottom of burner.  You can put this Bar thru a whole on your grill and song the Burner down
