I received this product just an hour ago and haven't stopped using it since. As someone who has been on the hunt for a reliable book stand that can also accommodate my iPad while I cook, this has been a fantastic find. I bought this stand to hold books so I could read hands-free. It does exactly what I need it to do. The page holder wires are strong and work great for both a mass market paperback or a large hardback book. The stand is strong enough to handle a heavy hardback book. The stand swivels and makes the most delicious clicking sound. I cannot overstate the coolness of this feature. You can adjust the angle and tilt easily, giving you plenty of viewing options. If you want to use this as a tablet holder, the wire page holders fold out of view. The whole unit folds flat - about 3 inches high - for storage or travel. I am very happy with this purchase, as it solves a problem - reading actual books hands-free when my Kindle isn't an option. (I like to read while snacking.) This is also a great solution if you are using books as references while working. There is room to clip a book light into the unit if you need it. Definitely would buy again. There are plenty of similar items on Amazon, but this particular version was the right combination of quality and price for me.

I have bounced between a couple of different book stands and I’m finally sticking with one—this one! Other stands I’ve used slide back when I turn pages while reading/viewing a book on the stand (usually the bamboo stands I’ve had), and the page holders I’ve used on other stands almost never work for larger books (usually they are metallic arms that have a single range of motion). This stand is fantastic. So many points of movement so you can customize and get the exact height and angle for viewing. I also love how strong it is. At first I thought it might be annoying that the arms move so stubbornly but that’s a really good thing. I use some heavy books at time (1,000 pages or more!) and there is absolutely no regression in the angles I’ve set. It’s very sturdy. But once you get used to it the stand is easy to fold and store. I typically keep it compact on my bookshelf to conserve desk space and then take it out 1-2x a day as needed. This stand looks sharp, has a great cushioned grip pad on the bottom to keep it steady, rotates seamlessly in a 360 motion, and the page arms have an incredible range of motion (and I love that they can be stored behind the stand—mainly for when I use my iPad it keeps them out of the way). If you need a book stand you need this one.

Book holding tongs break after a few months. Otherwise, it's a sturdy stand to hold books, but not able to hold the book opens if the tongs break

I'm writing this review after using it for the first time and tried it with a few books and my laptop. As the most negative reviews said, it requires some effort to modify its shape, but that seems like a good compromise to me because I can feel that it is sturdy and it won't let go even if its supporting a rather heavy book or a laptop. Learning to use the paper clips takes a bit of practice, but they're well designed and hold pages solidly. Turning a page requires more work than without using this product, of course, as you need to adjust both clips (I use it to read paper books and take notes while I read). Also, you need to pay attention to the clips' mechanism initially, because it looks rather easy to do the wrong thing and break it. Don't force it without making sure you're applying force in the sense allowed by the hinges! The product look & feel is great. It feels sturdy and made of good materials. The bottom is soft so it can be confidently and comfortably used over glass. The 360 feature is quite useful to adjust the position as one moves in the desk. Overall, I'm super happy with it.

This product is amazing. I am an author, writer and avid reader of books. This book holder allows me to keep a book open regardless of the book size or binding type (hardcover or softcover and even perfect bound) and it allows me to optimize the angle and height. It works as advertised and the construction quality is top notch. This will potentially last a lifetime and not become another landfill piece of garbage. Worth every penny. It saves me so much frustration and makes my life and job easier.

I love the modern simple design and the natural color matched with my desk. With aluminum and wood, it’s light. It is very easy to use. When my thick and big Bible was put on it, it fits very well. As shown in video, the left side was a letter sized paper. The page clip held the paper very well. It also can be folded to save space when not in use. In summary, it’s a great book stand and I highly recommended it!

I used to have a book holder when I was a child and it barely held the tiny books open. But technology has progressed since the '80s and this one holds giant books, stiff books and all the little mechanisms move in all sorts of directions for tall book, little books, chonky books, etc. I might just be easily impressed, but I absolutely love this thing! I read a lot before I sleep, so reading a large book can become hard when you read for over an hour, trying to hold up the book. And then! AND THEN! I can just put it on the side table and not have to worry about losing my page or having a bookmark. It's damn sturdy, too!
