Review: Saga: Vol. 4 - Alana and Mario assume new identities to try and settle down and raise Hazel, but the daily grind takes a terrible toll on their marriage. As Prince Robot IV closes on on his quarry, Gwendolyn and Sophie search for a cure for Will. Vaughan's 'Saga' shows that there can be something treacherous in normal life, but the characters are defined by their problems. The artwork and panelling is carefully designed to go from a grand epic scale to considerable intimacy quite quickly and with powerfully emotional effectiveness. Review: We have to assume that this is the best comic out there right now... - This series just gets better and better, in less than a couple of hours after unpacking this beauty I was wishing for volume five to happen already. The same non-complicated but beautiful art as always, the awesome plot development you would be to expect after reading the other three... I wish for more, but I fear that someday it will end... The service provided between desertcart and The Book Depository is as good as it has always been, 5/5!

A grounded epic. (In space.)
I love these books. Everyone of them so far have been a mix of comedy, tragedy and just crazy out there sci-fi. (One of the main villains has a TV for a head!) But despite the craziness it remains quiet touching and grounded in reality. All the characters actions and motivations make sense. I've read a lot of books that have been completely ruined because one of the characters you've grown to anticipate suddenly does something completely out of character just to move the story forward. Well fear not because Vaughan seems to have a very clear understanding of his creations. And Staples art work adds to the realism with people that move and look real; even those with TVs for heads, set alongside some awesome looking aliens and environments. I like to think of this story as a Romeo and Juliet tale; if Romeo and Juliet were not dumb teenagers who thought about death romantically. This volume collects issues 19 - 24 as we follow or heroes attempting to navigate the trials of maintaining a marriage and rising a hyper kid (3 year old? I'm unsure of her age at the moment and I'm not looking it up.). It just feels like such a normal tale for such a strange setting but never fear because if you bore of marital bliss there are some troubled waters as well as a rampaging murdering TV for a head alien. Highly recommend this book as well as the other volumes.

Saga is charming as ever - not LYING!
Saga is one of the strongest and hottest ongoing series - and the fourth volume proves that more so. While this volume feels more like a filler or a promise of greater things to come, it does so amazingly well and drives the overall plot forward with its content. The art is stunning as always and the writing is insanely sharp, witty and straight to the point. Saga is my absolute favorite series (Sorry Chew and TWD!). As mentioned, this volume is all about driving storylines and the overall plot forward with both character development and plot twists that will surprise the individual reader, promising a knock-out punch of a story to come in the following volumes. Saga is a series you cannot afford to miss!

One of the best series' I've ever read!
I bought Volume 1 only 1 week ago. This series is incredible. Just...just buy it (them) now! I should just mention that this isn't a comic you'd want your kids to read (if you have any).

Incredible work.
Put simply, this continues to be the best and most imaginative, complex, visually thrilling, gut wrenching, heartbreaking of any ongoing title out there. If you aren't already reading Saga you need to get all 4 volumes, call in sick for a week and read the whole thing twice. Cannot believe I have to wait another 6 months for volume 5. Absolutely excellent.

By far the best graphic novel I've ever read...
This is just simply brilliant! By now you will have read the other Saga Volumes and probably be hooked- I loved the storyline in VM4 and the artwork is simply stunning. My only criticism is that I was left wanting more and then I ordered Volume 5. What are you waiting for?! Do it for Lying Cat if nothing else...

Incredible series. I'd refer you to Vol 1 for a sense of the plot, but it's really a (very) mature tale of starcrossed lovers in a war-torn space opera. This book is like nothing else out there. Volume 4 continues strong. The first chapter opens rather bleakly, instilling a sense of dread in the reader as they plow forward. But Vaughn and Staples zig when you expect a zag. Not only that, but the supporting cast keeps expanding, and each new and returning member is just as fascinating as the next in both design and writing. Staples art remains top-notch, while this may be Vaughn's best writing to date, which says something for such an accomplished author. The narrative structure of Hazel relating her family's past to us from the margins manages to interject humor, sorrow, and some profundity to the book. The world-building gets ever-stronger while never losing sight of the characters at the core. Everything makes a weird sort of sense, and each act follows the next, like dominoes collapsing one after the other. Finally, it's worth mentioning that the extras are seemingly saved for the Deluxe Edition, but if you're simply a trade-waiter eager for your next hit of Vaughn and Staples' addictive series, this is for you.
