Decent quality set - I don’t mind that it is plastic and that was a concern I had. The pieces in the 4x weighted are massive, which is something I didn’t realise when I bought the set. I’d actually prefer them to be smaller and the same weight but that’s probably my fault for not checking. I will still play with them. Silicon mat is decent, seems very durable and malleable. The bag just about fits the pieces in. You need the box to carry them around anyway because they are so huge. It’s a heavy bit of kit so definitely don’t buy this if you plan to be on the go with it a lot.

Everything is great quality. The silicone board is soft and supple and was in perfect condition. There were no creases and the pieces were solid and well made. Be advised though that the pieces are really big, probably about a third as big again compared to the standard piece size.

SUPERB CHESS SET GREAT SIZE AND WEIGHT

Chess set received was all as expected, no surprises really. Mat is stable and attaches well to surface, and then rolls up easily into box provided. Pieces nice to the feel, a little light I would say, but nothing that would stop me buying again. All comes in nice box with manual. Quite a good tournament chess set.

I know this set (4X tournament set) is getting mixed reviews, but honestly? I can't really fault it! I too would like the pieces to be even heavier, but then I suppose they'd cost more! All the pieces look fantastic (and, yes, I was sent the Knights with the correct, slightly wilder manes which drew me to the set in the first place!) and none are broken or missing. They are large and imposing.... exactly what I wanted after years of playing on a tiny travel set that I inherited as a kid. The weights are adequate and not loose in the bases so far. The felt bottoms are also fine. There are thankfully few creases in the silicone board, but there are some. Not looking like it'll affect play too much though. They're just annoying. It certainly looks like they need to figure out a fold free way of delivering the boards! All in all, a really nice looking set if, like me, you wanted something just a little different from the standard old style of pieces! Yes they're plastic, yes, they'll mark up over time. But treat them gently and they'll serve you well for years! Short of getting a Harry Potter set of actual wizard chessmen this is the best looking set you'll ever own.... ; )

I bought this set because my young son likes to play but gets frustrated when knocking over small light pieces by accident. This has solved the problem perfectly and he's now regained interest. It fits nicely and looks great on our glass table too.
