PACK OF 10 sheets MIXED TYVEK & LUTRADUR The Tyvek are A4 sheets and the Lutradur are approx 9"x7" (23x18cm) On the additional photos with the 2 long strips the left strip is Tyvek and the more holey right strip is Lutradur. The other photos show a mixed media piece using both Tyvek, Lutradur and also Kunin Felt (also heated). Pack contains: 2 sheets each of Lutradur 30 and 70 and 1 sheet Lutradur 100. Together with 2 shts each Tyvek 55, 75 and 1 sheet Tyvek 105. If you want to experiment with both Tyvek and Lutradur this is the ideal pack - you get both in a variety of thicknesses. Tyvek is a paper which bubbles and distorts with heat, but is difficult to stitch through once heated. It is better to stitch first - but be careful with your thread as you do not want it melt when you heat it. Tyvek is non porous so really has to be coloured both sides, otherwise when the sides distort and roll in you will have the white backing showing. Like Lutradur it accepts multi-surface paints and a variety of different colourings. Lutradur is a bonded fabric which behaves like Tyvek when it is heated with an iron or heat , but does not 'bubble' as much as Tyvek. It can be coloured before heating or after heating - I find it easier to do it before heating and I use Multi Surface Paints as the heat from the heat then seals the colour. Lutradur has the advantage over Tyvek that if you use Fabric Paints you only usually have to colour one side as the paint bleeds through the material, particularly the lighter weights, as it is porous. Lutradur also tends to form more holes than Tyvek when heated - this makes it brilliant for textiles when you layer with contrast materials underneath. Both are used in mixed media work and for card toppers. Both can also be used with a craft soldering iron.
