Is this a sterling or a landcaster? could you spray it with glosscote?

I do believe it is the Avro Lancaster. I did see where someone used metal primer and then painted parts of his model. You could do a search and see what you can find.

What kind of wire cutter is required (please be specific so i can buy and include in this gift)

I have built 20+ Metal Earth models so far. I use a $2 pair of 5-3/4 inch needle nose pliers for all the bending/assembling and a $2 pair of wire cutters to remove the pieces from the sheets. You can find these at any hardware store. Lowe's, Harbor Freight, Home Depot, etc. They work perfectly. No need to buy a fancy "pre assembled kit".
