Works really well but a bit fiddly to fit
I replaced my (Westinghouse fan) faulty remote unit with this one. The original was a pancake shape unit fitted above the fan. This one has to be fitted inside the bracket then concealed by the metal bowl/shroud. It’s a bit tricky getting it into place and arranging the wiring around it but once installed it works great, in fact much better than the old one as the remote can be pointed anywhere in the room and it still picks up the signal easily. The remote itself has clearly labelled buttons and dims the lights as well as controlling the fan at three speeds. If you have a Westinghouse fan the connectors are compatible with the older remote system so just click into place with no new wiring required.

Brilliant
Excellent, was a bit wary it would be useless but worked straight away.

Useful item to prolong life of fan
The remote control receiver of our fan stopped working, so this item was a useful find. A bit of a fiddle to install as not a direct replacement. Still means we can remote control the fan, and switch light on and off but the light dinner function doesn't work for us, but not a problem as rarely used.

fitted in 20 minutes
Product was ordered at 13:45 on the 2th December, it arrived at 14:50 21st December and was fitted and working by 15:10 21st December. It was a straight swap for the remote box that fits in the fan, the bonus is that the old hand control works with the new unit so I now have a spare hand control. I did look at cheaper chinese alternatives however, the reviews were bad and the translation of some of the technical stuff was both complicated and written in that way that chine stuff often is, that is to say it was poorly translated. New fan would have cost £100 or so, now the old fan is working perfectly, it had a good thorough clean while it was down and the whole job cost just short of £27. Happy days.

Great replacement!!
Bought for a ceiling fan from a different manufacturer which uses the same controller box. The plug was different (as I fully expected) but it was a simple job to cut the plugs off my old controller and new controller and fit the old one with block connectors so it now plugs straight in :) Remote is MUCH better than my old one. The old one I had to pretty much AIM at the fan and keep pressing the button until it registered... The new remote I can point in the completely opposite direction or at a wall and it works first press! :)

Replaced a faulty 'Fantasia' fan controller
Bought this to repair our bedroom ceiling fan/light which stopped responding to the remote - it refused to turn off. The original manufacturers were asking a lot of money for a replacement remote and controller. This item was much better value and works fantastically (if you pardon the pun). It was easy to wire up with some straightforward diagrams. The black dot attached to a white cable in the photo is actually the sensor which is located just outside of the fan housing but is unobtrusive. The remote is actaully of a better design and construction than the original that came with the fan.

Not too sure about build quality or quality control , but when you finally get a good one...
Using the remote control is easy enough. Installing the remote control module inside a Westinghouse ceiling fan is, however, something else entirely. I got through 3 x remote control modules and a severely disappointing exchange of emails with Westinghouse UK customer care whilst trying to install the remote module (it turned out that the ceiling fan itself was faulty, blowing remote modules and wall switches each time the lighting circuit was turned back on. The remote dimmer module makes a noticeable whining noise the dimmer you set the bulbs, which is annoying, but livable with.

Works but lots of areas could be improved - Extra info for twin fan unit users.
I had two new Westinghouse ceiling fans going up in our new conservatory and wanted both to work with a remote. Surprisingly after speaking to an experienced Westinghouse specialist, it became apparent that the RF remote system (Radio Frequency) Westinghouse make will not allow you to use one remote control with two fans, so I had no choice but to go with the older looking IR remote system (Infrared) which will allow you to control both fans with a single remote. To make both fans work with a remote you need an IR receiver/controller for each fan. You can't buy an IR receiver/controller on it's own, you have to buy it with the remote which is a waste of money, plastic, packaging, etc, etc so I am now storing a spare remote I will likely never need. In our conservatory it is easy to point the controllers at a single fan and control it without it affecting the other fan. I can also point it in-between them both and they will both respond but it will depend on your room and where you are stood. There is no additional configuration needed to use the remote with two fan units. Wiring wise, the way it works with a wall switch is if you want to use the remote, the unit must be on at the wall. You will also pull the fan unit chains on initial setup to light on and fan max. I subsequently cut the cheap white plastic chains down to a couple of cm as we will never use them and they are no longer hanging down looking ugly. If you turn a unit off and on at the wall, the light WILL come on and the fan WILL NOT start up automatically regardless of their last state. This can be useful if you want light but can't find the remote although you will then need to find the remote to get the fan to spin and the light to turn off. In practice we always leave the unit on at the wall and always use the remote for operating the light and fan. I didn't want to have to do this but am not finding it as bad as I expected. There is a holster for the remote so you can always screw the holster to the wall and leave the remote in it. Quick run down Pros - I am happy with the job they are doing, it is great being able to control both fans separately and without traipsing around the room pulling at long cords. - Once you are up and running they seem like they will be reliable and maintenance free apart from changing the batteries in the remote now and again. - I didn't find a better alternative that would work this well with our Westinghouse fan units. For all the flaws it still might be the best option. Cons - Boy is the remote ugly and tacky looking. I think it is better made than it looks but it looks cheap and nasty. - Want to control two fans? You have to buy the full set of both IR Remote and Controller. - Awkward to fit IR receiver/controller into fan unit. I managed it fine but it is very fiddly and more messing about than it should be. Everything has to line up perfectly because the IR receiver/controller is the max size for the Westinghouse fan unit. It could have been made smaller so it fit comfortably and thus quicker and easier. - The IR sensor is a bit ugly too. The IR receiver/controller box sits inside your fan fitting but you will have a single wire with an IR sensor on the end hanging out. Again it is bigger and more obvious than it needs to be. In summary it is doing the job well now it is fitted but overall the product could be improved massively from other angles.

Important
Excellent pour remplacer les mêmes pièces que chez faro . Un petit conseil n'achetez pas la marque Faro qui n'a aucun service après vente et qui sont d'une grande médiocrité quand il s'agit de remplacer des pièces défectueuses .
