Reorder, you won't regret it. **Q: I have to be missing something here, please explain how blowing cool air at the coals ignites them ??** A: Blowing air at a piece of coal won't ignite it.You light the coal then use this to blow air on it. Adding oxygen to a fire makes it burn hotter. Fire needs air to burn. If you blow on a burning coal it will get more air and burn hotter. **Q: how noisy is it? Im looking for a small adjustable portable blower to use in art projects would this work or is it loud like a blow dryer?** A: It definitely has an audible whine (that gets louder as you adjust the speed up) so the following statement does not suggest that it is quiet: It is quieter than a hair dryer.More importantly, I don't think this is what you are looking for to dry an art project. This is more about the volume of air and less about the velocity. You open up your new electric toy and no batteries. In this day and age! Probably obvious to most, it uses 4 AAs, not that the instructions say so, along with the an assumption that you can work out which way round end to end to insert them. You can use rechargeable ones, but who knows what capacity spec this needs. It does work though. If I saw a friend using one I'd be impressed, but I might baulk at the price.
