Great fun story
My son says the book may be a little young for him (he's 10, a good reader, but not overly keen on reading), but as he loves cricket he has thoroughly enjoyed reading this series. As it has different styles of writing in it with the calypsos etc I think it is good for his English too, without him realising it! Would definitely recommend.

Great for cricket lovers
Bought this for my cricket loving 6 year old. We've all enjoyed it and it's got him reading a bit on his own. Will definitely order some of the others by the same author

One for all the family
Bob Cattell's story and John Agard's poems create a magic spell as they paint a picture of island life and calypso cricket. My favourite bit was the moment when Jessie the dog stole and ate the groundsman's lunch. This led to Ricardo meeting Count Crawfish and suddenly the chump who could not catch a cricket ball was on the road to becoming a real champ. A great read.

Brilliant
What a Fantastic book . I have two sons aged 9 and 7 who loved this book-its softly lilting ryhmes and beautiful descriptions of the joys of caribbean cricket and life -CLR James himself would have been proud.

Butter-Finger is Great for cricket-mad boys or girls!
I bought this for my 9 year-old son who is cricket-mad. He loved it! He liked the rhythmic style of the poems included in the story. He enjoyed reading all the cricket match details too! He told me that the story line keeps you interested to the end.
