The Inbetweeners: Series 1 And 2 [DVD]

As stated by Nuts magazine.. "The Inbetweeners is the best sitcom since Peep Show". The inbetweeners is simply brilliant. Joe Thomas, Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and James Buckley make a stunning team with brilliant on screen chemistry under the guidance of experienced writers damon Beesley and Iain Morris. Although deffinitely aimed at the younger generations, older people may enjoy moments too. For example my father was laughing, yet my mother hated it. Partly due to the language which is the main reason that it is rated 18. The quadlet's brilliantly funny adventures and failures make for a great laugh all the way through some episodes. Series 2 also features a guest appearance from Jayne Wisener although not necessarily the most convincing while comedian Greg davies takes the role of head of 6th form superbly. As a whole, the acting is sensational. Even the characters with smaller parts. Some of the extras aren't anything special, with a lot of them breaking rule number one: don't look directly at the camera, but maybe they heard 'sitcom' and instantly thought 'Ricky Gervais' in which case they can be excused. Put simply, if you enjoy laughing at other people's expense and some whacky but still believable situations then this is for you. If you hate the use of bad language for the sake of it, then stay away. I really would reccommend this to anyone between the ages of 15 and 50.

I heard of this show off and on for a while but the ads made it look a little too inappropriate for my tastes. When I finally gave it a try, I was very excited. It's mix of exaggerated teenage situations and outsider humor really makes for a fun view. Simon Bird's continueous narration is a surprisingly imaginative touch which gives humor to scenes that might otherwise fall flat. I purchased the DVD as I love to watch shows in large chunks. BBC America was playing it recently, but it was horribly truncated. I do not know if this was an attempt to appease the puritanical rules over American television or if they were also heavily edited for the original audience. This is why I get the original DVDs. I had to get a regionless player, but it was worth it. They cut so much out on the BBC America DVDs. I would recommend this to anyone who can look back at school and laugh. It might hit too close to home to those who never let the experience go... All in all, a very enjoyable and well done program.

Once in a while, either through the right chemistry or genius (possibly both) a series stands out against the dire, generally witless procession of British comedy shows. Instead of what I've become braced to expect (stupid faces, wide eyes, and high tremulous voices saying things like "what do you mean?" endlessly), The Inbetweeners is genuinely a humbling experience. It is hard to believe that there are still people with so much talent involved in Television in this treadmill, dumbed-down age. Everything works in perfect harmony in this series, from the exceptional performances of the actors to the astute observations of the writers who remember - all too clearly sometimes - what it is like to be a certain age. There is a small pocket of outstanding British comedy shows and The Inbetweeners joined its ranks from series one. This is a work of genius and impossible to over-rate.

Having moved to the U.S a few years ago I rely on Amazon UK for all our British TV. The Inbetweeners series 1 was shown on BBC America but was badly cut with all the bad language beeped out. The DVD box set fixed that and I have to say this show is laugh out loud funny, reminded me of my youth. Have to say I do not agree with an earlier reviewer (D Strachan) on Amazon providing bad DVDs and being difficult to deal with. Out of the dozens I have bought from them I only had one damaged in the mail and it was promptly replaced by Amazon without me having to send the damaged one back and on one occasion when three I had ordered vanished somewhere between USA and UK Amazon again swiftly sent replacements. 10 out of 10 for good service and customer care.

The DVD content ie the Inbetweeners was excellent and I had viewed this before on television. However I was disappointed with the quality of the discs - both discs were scratched resulting in the DVD's jumping during playback. I would not purchase a DVD from Amazon again. I would have returned the item for replacement, however quite simply I do not have time to do this and I understand the returns process is not straightforward and is also time consuming. Basically - DVD content - excellent, I knew this before I purchased. DVD quality very poor, and the only reason I did not retunr was as I said I simply do not have the time. D.Strachan

I missed this series when it was on TV, but took the time to watch it on Channel 4OD. After watching a couple of episodes online I was hooked and decided it was definitely worth making the investment to buy the dvd box set. The characters definitely remind me of people who I went to school with (even if they are slightly more extreme!). The price is also a compelling factor in buying this dvd set. I have now bought a second one for my 17 year old younger brother- a gift that has gone down extremely well. All in all very happy I went for it and looking forward to the much rummoured film!

Watching this series on E4 reminded me of being in 6th form college and made me laugh so much. The writer has focused on charactorisation to ensure that his well crafted script comes alive and is believeable. The hopeless messes that the four main charactors find themselves in as they try to win over the opposite sex are absolutely hilarious and remind me of the sort of antics that went on when I was at college. This is not just for teenages, this is also for any age group that likes to reminisce about those happy(???) school days whilst sipping a nice glass of wine that legally you can now enjoy.

I love this show and now owning it on DVD, my life is complete because I can laugh until I have stitches in my side. I have never seen a more honest representation of teenage life (next to Skins) on TV, nor laughed this hard. The characters are dynamic and there is growth over the six episodes so that you actually care about them and want to know what their next adventure will be. I just pray that American TV execs don't see this show and ruin it by watering it down and showing it on ABC. You must have a multi-region DVD player to watch the show. I bought one just so I could watch this show and Amazon has some really cheap ones that don't require any set up. It is well worth the purchase of the player for these DVDs. Enjoy the series and look for new episode airing in September, *friend*! :)

Omg this is way too funny ... This series is obviously based on real life experiences. The acting wasnt great , but i could see a friend from my youth in every one of those characters. Not all Americans are going to get this humour, after all you guys still think benny hill is great. Any of you guys who dont see yourself in one of these characters hasnt lived. From the age of 14 all us guys think about is sex , and this series portrays that perfectly. If your one of those guys who waited for marriage before enjoying a female companion ... THIS DVD AINT FOR YOU
