It is possible for example, to connect a light to several switches (so you can turn the light on/off from different places: ie. near the door and near the bed) With a double switch you can control 2 lights. I've ordered 2 doubles (that I've not received yet) to control 2 lights from 2 different places (in my case, from the bottom to the top of the stairs) The switches look very modern and are big so you can push them with your elbow if you're carrying something. Really clever to make the entire thing battery free, including the remote switch. Still not quite sure how they've managed to do that. Why can't they do that to TV remotes, video game controllers, etc? Particularly useful for things like outdoor lights if like mine they are plugged into an external socket on the outside of the house. Though be careful to wire in the round receiver part in front of any in-line transformers, which many outdoor lights have. So in other words wire in the receiver on the closest stretch of wire to the mains plug itself, in between the plug and the transformer. If you try (as I did initially) to wire it in on the section of wire between the transformer and the lights, the transformed current is not the correct power to operate the receiver. One tiny tiny point - ever so slightly annoying that they've put what looks exactly like an LED indicator on the light switch unit, but it is in fact not a light at all, but just a 'marker' so you know which side you are pressing. Why bother? You know which side you're pressing as, presumably, your lights will either go on, or off according to which side you press!
