Mavala Stop Formula for not Biting Nails

I've been using it for about 5 days now after biting my nails for 30 years. I decided I really had to stop because of the pain when I bit them too much and my thumb hurt for 2 or 3 days. The varnish dries, so the flavor takes a second or 2 to activate, but then it lingers for a good while and serves as a punishment for putting your finger in your mouth. It's not so bad that you couldn't power through it if you really want to bite your nails. But it definitely does the job of reminding you not to. I havnt bitten mine since I ordered this. It also lasts through handwashing, but obviously if you need to give your nails a good scrub you'll need to re apply it. Or if you need it to be full strength you might need to apply it 2 or 3 times a day. I've got by once a day so far and nails are starting to grow

As a 69 year old lifelong nail biter, I can confidently say that you are very unlikely to bite your nails if they're coated with this stuff. I've had good nails for many months but as soon as I start nibbling I have to re-apply. You also have to be careful when eating or preparing food because the yucky taste transfers easily. Having said that, the product works very well and I would recommend.

Son (15) is biting the skin around his nails so got this to stop him. Seems to be doing the trick, just need to remember to keep reapplying.

I've tried various methods to stop me biting my nails and finally I have found one that works! My fingernails (see photo) have never been this long in 40 years! I gave a 1* rating for flavour because the taste is horrible and bitter - but that's what makes it so effective (hence the 5* rating). It leaves a slight gloss on the nails but that helps to show when it is wearing off and needs a re-coat, when the gloss fades away; despite hand washing etc, this stays on your nails for two or three days which is great. The small bottle will last a long time, so good value in my opinion. The photo was taken after 20 days of use. Personally I recommend this product as it worked for me.

This stuff is meant to put people off biting their nails. Well, for me I was barely able to taste it, so I wouldn't say its a particularly good deterrent.

I'm 34, autistic and have bit my nails and skin around the nails for as long as I can remember. I remember as a child I used this other stuff, it was bad but nothing like this so would continue to bite my fingers. 34 years old and I finally find something that makes me think twice about biting my nails, it's so bad I can literally taste the bitterness if I pick food up with my hands (even though it's on my nails!!!!) bad if you love food like me, but also great if it's one of the hardest habits to kick, you won't want to eat with your hands but it saves your fingers from being munched on 😂

Had such high hopes yet my 6 year old simply ignores the taste and is still sucking his thumb. Sadly an expensive mistake.

Il prodotto è amarissimo e funziona: si smette di mangiare unghie e pellicine. Dura sulle unghie dai 2 ai 5 giorni, a seconda di quante volte si lavano le mani e ci si fa la doccia. Io lo applico ogni 3/4 giorni in media. Resiste anche in piscina se per brevi bagni. Riporto 3 aspetti negativi: non è possibile prendere alimenti con le mani perchè l'amaro si trasferisce su qualsiasi superficie umida, a meno che non si usino solo i polpastrelli. Non è possibile neanche cucinare e trattare gli alimenti crudi per lo stesso motivo. Secondo problema: dopo un anno di utilizzo il liquido è più vischioso dentro alla boccetta, si applica con più fatica, e capita che il tappo diventi sempre più duro da svitare. Terzo problema: il pennellino non arriva fino in fondo, ma fino a 2/3 del liquido, con un evidente inutile spreco. Nonostante questi aspetti se volete smettere di mangiarvi le unghie per 10 euro il prodotto è questo.

An excellent product. The taste is quite bitter, so it definitely won’t make you put your finger in your mouth. Nails also get stronger from it, but you need to stay consistent in applying the product, because the habits don’t disappear as easily as we’d like, and during a horror movie you might forget and end up putting your hand in your mouth.

This product delivered. It not only stopped my 8 year old daughter from biting her nails, it helped strengthen them as well. My daughter picked up the nasty habit of biting her nails after we weaned her off the pacifier and sometime during pre-school. It was like heroin for her and no amount of talking or scolding helped. She was ashamed she could not stop and ashamed that her nails looked like ugly as hell. This was a HUGE problem. It seemed unfixable. I bought this as a last ditch effort, as my research online pretty much told me this would be a lifetime addiction. For the first 3 days, she resisted. She was upset, ashamed, etc. She would put her nails in her mouth, then spit out the nastiness, cry and complain. Then on day 4, it all turned around. She stopped putting her fingers in her mouth due to the nastiness, her nails became healed, and strong, and beautiful. She was so happy and proud. She saw the difference and actually welcomed having to put this on every few days. Actually, when it wears off and we forget to reapply, she STILL doesn't bite her nails. Last week, she went to the nail salon and put colored polish on, then the next day we re-applied this product over it, no problem! It's nothing short of a miracle. Not everything works for everybody, but for us, this was a godsend. Highly recommend you give it a try.

Worked like a charm! Put it on my 3 year old’s thumbnails (very quick drying) and she stopped sucking her thumb immediately! She did cry a little that first night when she tried and it tasted awful, but it hasn’t been a problem since then. We didn’t have to reapply because it worked so well, but it lasts at least 4 days on a toddler. Even on an adult who is good at washing his hands it was very bitter and strong 2 days later when eating wings. (Yes, she made dad get his nails painted too)
