Matches & Holder Black 1964

Great for long matches and looks fab at the side of my multifuel stove. Value for money

I love the look of the item and it stands very nicely next to the wood and the stove in my home. I am not too sure about the quality of the "strike" strip (which you can put into the slot on the side of the item) for lighting the match, but once you get used to its foibles it does the job very well. The long match does save burning your fingers when lighting the paper/kindling in the wood burner. I do recommend this item. Thank you.

Looks cute, but not very practical as one has to keep cutting out strips off the striking paper from depleted match boxes to fit the small size of the slide-in opening on the side that you see in the picture -- and in fact find a box with striking patches just the right thickness to fit in. So much kerfuffle that one ends up having this for show only (another item to clutter the already busystove surrounding) and actually use a conventional matchbot. The opening, btw, is too tight to hold the entire matchbox.Then again, it is a nice holder for, say, scissors or pens and pencils.

This item looks the part sitting on a fireplace but I keep it as an ornament rather than use them, they light quite easily but the striking bit on the side of the container is very small and would be easier to use if it was bigger.

Useful little holder made of metal and painted black to resemble cast iron. A small strike place is included on the side, this seems to be a small piece of fine grade sand/glasspaper which could soon be replaced when worn out. For all those people, who like me, feel more comfortable with imperial measurements than metric the ornament stands at 8" to it's highest point: The matches are not the extra long ones that you can find in your local supermarket at nearly 4", but are 9" long, there are approximately 50 in the bundle provided, and look very substantial; i.e not going to snap easily when you attempt to strike them. I think they will be very useful for lighting a woodburner although I haven't tried them yet. Checking Amazons website for replacement matches though I must say that I find delivery costs absurd saying that the bundle weighs less than 3 ounces. I will more than likely replace with the old-fashioned wooden spills probably available from a tobacconist, but certainly on the internet with a simple search engine search.

Not great quality, had to replace the matches as they just break and the flint keeps falling out

I purchased this as a gift for my husband. The Match holder is fine - although it came without a strike - but the matches are not long enough - they are certainly not as long as pictured in the image - the matches only just come to the top of the lowest part of the holder. Very disappointed - and to make it worse, a friend had bought us the SAME GIFT from a different supplier - which came COMPLETE with a strike (so we can light the matches) and matches equivalent to the length of the ones in this picture. I am very disappointed - however, given the price of the item, I did not bother to contact the seller or ask for a refund.

Le pot est original . Plus décoratif qu'une boîte d'allumettes, il se marie très bien avec notre intérieur. Les allumettes sont de bonne qualité. Le "gratte allumettes" peut se remplacer. Contente de cet achat.

joli petit pot équipé d'un grattoir sur le côté, je n'avais pas imaginé que le pot soit si petit mais c'est sympa quand même.
