## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 years on and still going well
*by T***Y on 18 March 2007*

EDIT: 5 years after review below - Still happy with this scope. Still working well and bought a digi cam adapter and better tripod. I found that using a cheaper digital camera with the adapter gave fairly good results (just uploaded a few pics of the moon). Tried using a more expensive DSLR with the adapter, but the weight was too much for the adapter. I think the cheap digi cam results were good enough. Finding it a little bulky now, but that is the price to pay for the magnification. Fogging became a problem when the scope was kept in the house and moved to a cold outside viewing area. Now I keep the scope in my garage in a good quality rucksack with a few sachets of silica gel that I keep collecting. Still stand by 5 stars_____________________________________________________________________________I am no expert when it comes to scopes, had one given to me as a freebie :-)I can't give you techie specs, but I can say I am happy with the scope. The clarity is superb, even at night. I can't quite get a pinpoint focus at full magnification. When looking at a star it seems a bit fuzzy, don't know if this is normal!Switching over from 6x-20x is via a small dial which is quite smooth. When it switches over you might have to refocus a bit, but it maintains the point you were looking at. When zooming in you will have to keep refocusing. When at full zoom there doesn't seem to be clearly defined lines, but good enough to read a car registration plate at 1.1km. At 1.3km I could just about make out some of the letters through the heat haze, but lost it at 1.4km.When panning around at mid range magnification I was surprised to see so much more detail. Objects completely invisible to the naked eye appear with good clarity. The bag is pretty good and allows you to mount it on a tripod without taking the scope out. The tripod is very basic and not much use at 100x. You cannot touch the scope when on the pod at that magnification, way too much wobble, but OK if you keep your eye just off it.Also liked the fact that you can swivel the eyepiece around to suit your comfort. As a nooby with only experience of cheapo binoculars I give it a 5.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Value for Money Scope - Excellent for Birding
*by I***E on 4 January 2015*

I have only had this scope a few days (superb delivery as usual-thank you!) and although initially reasonably happy with it, weather and work had prevented me from giving a good test – until today.I have been looking for a scope with a large objective lens (80/85mm) and a magnification circa 60x for birdwatching and to be honest I had set my sights (forgive the pun) on a unit more than twice price of this one. However having read customer and published reviews on several scopes, and with a little trepidation, based I suppose on the lower cost and you get what you pay for idiom, I opted for the Yukon. My previous scope was 20-50x magnification with a 60mm objective lens and my first impressions of the Yukon were how clear and bright the image is on both magnification settings although this does deteriorate a bit at the higher end (on both). The zoom control is maybe a bit stiff (it may ease off with use) but then I prefer that to something sloppy. By contrast the focusing ring is lovely and smooth.Up to now with the exception of about half an hour, I have only been able to use the scope in very dull and overcast conditions and so my findings regarding light and clarity my change when used in better light.Although there is some degradation in light and clarity at the higher end of the magnification scale (circa 90x upwards) which I was expecting as very rarely does anything operate to full capacity throughout the claimed range, I found that for the range of use that I need I can't ever see myself wanting to use the scope at anything more than 70/80x and up to that point the results are IMO very good. There is a bit of distortion in light and colour on the very periphery of the viewed image and this again may be down to the light conditions, but the remainder of the view is all I could ask for.Indeed my next purchase will be for a camera mount/adaptor so that I can record the great imagery that my eye is being treated to.The two-tier magnification system works well allowing one to locate a subject on the lower range and then changing to greater magnification if required. The change between the two ranges operates well. The other thing I can say is that (again as expected) a reasonably sturdy tripod is needed when being used outdoors, but then I used the scope very successfully sitting within a hide by simply resting the case on the ledge of the hide viewing opening and holding the back end of the scope with one hand and operating the controls with the other. The scope is lightweight and the carry case wich allows operation without removal is functional and easy to sling over the shoulder. My only con is that the screw-in lens cap can be a bit fiddly to locate but that aside I am very pleased with my purchase up to now.I am sure there are better scopes out there but certainly not at this price. Don't let the low price put you off!Value for money earns this product 5 stars.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Curiosity
*by H***Y on 28 May 2010*

I saw the review on the yukon 100 mil , for the money can it be a bad buy . even if it only works on 50 mag it will be worth the asking price . i have had quite a few spotting scopes over the years . for shooting and just being nosey really . so i put my order in and waited . when it got here i took it down to my club to try and to tell the truth i was delighted .it works well up to 80 mag , after that it gets a bit vague .on 50 mag in good conditions it is superb . average conditions on 40 mag . excellent and for general viewing 20 is just the job . like i say on 50 mag on a good day at a measured 600 yards . i could easily see the buds on a tree . make out the eye on a crow . if you are looking for a spotting scope for shooting or bird watching . for this money i do not think you can go wrong . light , easily portable , cheap . HOLLY .
