No joke - it's my life saviour
Update after 4 days of use: I'm devastated again - it only works for a couple of hours when the puppy is tired and he's back on normal... he's been barking and howling for the whole 3 hours after the first couple of hours (where it worked) when left alone... Not sure if I should give another chance at this and purchase diffuser or not :( -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am seriously about to cry out of hapiness. My 4 months old whippet puppy has a severe separation anxiety, which is likely to be because I got him during the christmas holiday where I made a huge mistake of not getting him used to be left alone. He would whine, howl and bark nonstop the whole time I was out, even if it was just for 1 minute. I had to figure out the way he can stay alone so I researched so much, read almost every article on internet about separation anxiety. Spent the whole two weeks during christmas/new years time working from home and trying to train him using all different kinds of methods including behavioural modification suggested by behaviourist but he just couldnt stay calm for more than 10 mins and bark and scratch the door which broke my heart as I really wanted him to be comfortable without me. I tried to ignore him a lot and crate train him etc so that he can be more independent, but he just continued to be clingy and anxious when left alone. Neighbours began to complain about the noise and I was getting so stressed and devastated as I really had to start going into office soon and I couldn't keep asking my sister to dogsit him during the day nor could I put him to daycare as he was too young for it. Apart from the behaviour modification I also tried: thundershirt, crate training and spray collar. Non of them worked, and I came across this while searching for my last resort solution. The same day I also consulted vet about the issue because I was simply desperate, and they also recommended this. But I was very very skeptical that this would work... It's the second day he's wearing this today, and as usual I gave him some toys and food and came out of my house leaving my facetime on with my macbook and iphone (which was why I knew he had separation anxiety). He normally would follow me to door and try to come out even if there were delicious food lying around at home, but this time he started eating food while I was coming out. Now that was the first surprise. He would then just eat it for 15 mins and didnt even notice that I wasnt around anymore. He then finished the food and he would just check out the door and entire house and realise that I wasn't around anymore, but he just went to his usual spot and just sat down elegantly. And after a couple of minutes he just went to sleep.... and it's been 2 hours. He's just sleeping, and if I make some noise outside, mimicking people passing by, he would wake up to listen, check out the door once again briefly, then go back to his usual spot and sleep again. I seriously just cannot believe what I am seeing right now. As I am out watching over him using face time now I am writing this insanely long essay review cause I am simply blown away. I never really write review especially not an essay like this but I just had to given the amount of time and money I've invested to cure him from separation anxiety and the stress I got over the past 3 weeks. Now, I am not saying this would work for every dogs out there, just like how thundershirt apparently does wonders to many dog with anxiety but did not do a thing to mine, but I highly recommend to at least give a go at this if you tried everything like me and really want to calm your dog long term (not using things like spray collar which doesnt calm your dog but rather scare them). This is seriously my life savour, will also purchase the diffuser as theis thing just works on my dog and it’s more than just worth it. Thank you so much Adaptil.

VERY DANGEROUS ITEM. PLEASE AVOID
We bought this for our anxious dog as it was recommended by our vet. I applied the collar as per the instructions. After a couple of hours our dog was choking, the collar had tightened on its own. I had to cut the collar off. I’m so thankful I was home at the time otherwise this could have been an unthinkable tragedy. This product needs to be removed from sale.

This product has transformed my life and that of my 2 yr old cockapoo!
Rarely do I leave a review. I work on the principle that if in the 'old days' of pen and paper I would have been compelled to write a letter of commendation or complaint, then I will 'leave a review' in the modern world! When my now 2 yr old cockapoo came to live with me as a 12 week old pup, both my mother and daughter lived with me. My mother never left the house. When Covid struck I immediately moved over to working from home. When restrictions were lifted, my daughter moved out and my mother moved into a care home following a long stay in hospital, but I was at home all day everyday. So until March/April this year, Topsy Wiffle Waffle had never spent any time alone. Ever. Consequently, the attachment issues have been extensive, with TWW screaming and crying if I even go into the bathroom and shut the door. Her panic and trauma when I left the room was immense, and on my part, soul destroying. If I went outside to put the bins out, for example, she would paw and scrape at the window whilst howling. I tried to ease her in gently, and used lots of different tips and techniques to occupy her, but my Hive hub was sending me around 60-100 notifications per hour when I was out of the house to say a dog was barking. Each notification has a 1or 2 second sound recording and every one was TWW screaming and howling. The distress was devastating and worrying. I purchased this collar and popped it straight on. Within one day, the constant, agitated panting had eased. Within a couple of days, TWW would watch me go upstairs, shutting the stair gate behind me, make a pathetic little whimper and then go and lie down in the lounge. Yesterday was recycling day. TWW didn't move off the couch whilst I went in and out with all the recycling bins. And today, my gosh, today really has been an incredible turning point. I left TWW at home alone for an hour and a half whilst I did some shopping... I received 7 notifications! In less than a week this product has changed our lives. I have gone from feeling sad and hopeless about our future to feeling so positive about my wonderful little friend. I have kept my eye as I know some reviews have mentioned irritation around the collar, but so far I see no sign of any issue. I cannot sing the praises of this item enough.

Not a cure all
These are quite costly at around £20-25/month. Especially when they often are not enough as a sole therapy. It is rare that this is the only intervention a nervous/scared dog will need. I personally have been using these as there are a lot of changes in the house currently and I wanted to do what I can to try and keep the dogs as calm as possible throughout. I also am using this alongside calming supplements. I have noticed that the dogs are more settled and I started using these collars before adding in the supplements. It did have some effect alone, but definitely better in combination. They haven't caused any itchy skin/skin reactions in my dogs but they have slightly longer coats. I wouldn't give up on these products too soon, but some dogs need medical/behavioural input from vets/behaviourists and these often will aid the process. I do not intend on using these indefinitely but will use them until things settle and then have them in my arsenal if anything changes in the future.

Well made and came recommended
Our Terrier is very reactive, we got this to try calm him on walks after recommendation. Didn't work very well with him but was well worth a try as it seems to have helped lots of other dogs

Did not work in our circumstances.
My dog of 8 has developed anxiety from higher pitched noises such as microwave, game show bells etc Ironically she is fine with fireworks! Brought this collar as hoped it would help her but after a few weeks of wearing nothing has changed so a waste of money for us! We have successfully used a cat version on our cats and hoped for the same positive results.
