Thanks** A: You can't use USB sticks as extra storage, but you can use them to back up game saves, etc. Better to buy a caddy and a hard drive (say, 250 or 320Gb?) and insert it into the 12Gb version for cheaper than the 500Gb version. **Q: Is this PS3 backwards compatible? Will I be able to play PS2 games on it?** A: Absolutely. You can play any PS2 or 3 game provided they are not "pirate". You cannot play PS1 games HOWEVER on the PlayStation network (which is already on your console) you have the option to purchase older games such as the original Spyro trilogy and I believe they also sell Crash which are PS1 games but they are downloaded and do not have discs. This is the only way to play them. I suggest if you want to play lots of PS3 or download PS1 games then you should purchase a PS3 with MUCH more memory than this (500G) or purchase the hard drive update which will give you more room as 12GB can allow you to play and have about 3-4 PS3 games saved and 3 small PS1 games and one film on the hard drive. To continue playing lots of games you have to delete the game from the PS3 once complete, this does not delete any trophies and internet is free with your own broadband connection. **Q: does this come with hdmi cable** A: Some come with more accessories than others. Read the description for the item you buy. Condition varies. Persevere when setting up, you can read some people give low scores because they don't know what they're doing. The PS3 is such a versatile console it gets used virtually everyday, be it for watching Netflix, Blue Ray or playing games. The 12gb HDD is pretty pathetic and we had filled it up within a week. It took a few days to find a compatible 160gb disk for under £15 and a caddy for £10 and suddenly we had a console that at the time people were paying around £200 for, so it really is a bargain at this price. The fact that the 12gb is not disk based storage makes transferring your save data across to a new HDD a doddle, with no need to create back ups and restore data, you just put a new drive in and follow the instructions. One point I will mention is that I found it very difficult to track down anywhere that tells you how to access the HDD bay on this particular model. This situation may have improved but in case you are stuck it is one of the oval shaped panels at the end of the machine. It is fiddly but you slide and pull it and it will come off. The main strength of the PS3 is its gameplay, and game support. We have a rival console which sits gathering dust due to a lack of decent games for it (Hint: it sounds a bit like a toilet function). There is no such shortage of great games for the PS3, and they look fantastic. My favourite at the moment is Drake's Deception, the scenery in this is amazing and I find I can waste a lot of time looking at it rather than getting on with the game.
