Can I attach it to a bedroom wall?

Yes, I've converted a bedroom to a work room. To make life easier I put up chipboard panels first for multiple other fixings etc. However you could easily just drill holes directly into wall. Just use correct rawlplugs for solid/ plasterboard walls.

How do the bins attach to the backing?

the back of the bins have down facing projections that slot vertically downward and into locating slots set in the black wall panels. Make sure you have mounted the wall panels the right way around - the horizontal projections(ribs) have to face outwards. 0ffer the bins up to the ribs and match up the top rear of the bins with the slots in the backing plate and gently push the bins down.

Do the back panels separate into 2 pieces? I was keen on having the bins mounted on one side of the garage and the tools hanging somewhere else. Thx

They are two separate pieces. I have mine on opposite walls
