Vital for Drummers
Lots of words have been written about Stick Control over the years so this won’t be a lengthy review. If you’re serious about playing the drums or want to improve your hands this is a fantastic resource. Using the book as Stone intended will improve your coordination and dexterity. However where this book is just so incredible is when you start using the patterns creatively around the kit. It really is a worthwhile purchase, and one that you’ll get many years use from.

A must for drummers!
This is a great book and has really useful material for improving your 'chops', whether a kit player, marching band or percussionist etc. Would also like someone to produce a high quality mp3/CD or Blu-Ray to accompany it.

This should be the first book you buy for drums
Stick Control does what any good book in the field should do: it has a positive effect on every style you play. While this is true of many books on drumming, none have saturated the drumming culture so totally as this. Ask any professional drummer what exercises they use to practice and 95% will either be using this book or will have used it at some point. The first page alone, when properly mastered, will elevate any dummers ability to control their sound and express themselves more freely. That is after all the point of drumming and what defines good drummers: the lack of barriers between their ideas and their playing. By working through these absolute fundamentals, the student will erode major barriers to their self-expression and be able to do what they want without worrying whether their hands can keep up. The exercises require discipline, hard-work and time. That is the reality of art and the reward for following this book is a more mature and unrestricted relationship with the intrument we all love.

Every drummer needs to start here
The bible for new drummers. Sure, it's not a riveting read, but if you really want to learn properly you need this book, followed by, or interspersed with, "Accents and rebounds" by the same author.

Great excercises
Contains loads of excercises I ignored years ago when I had the ability to soak up new information like a sponge. Happily paying the price practising them now and enjoying this book very much. The variations for me were refreshingly different from a lot of other books I own. In summary it's understandable and enjoyable even for a drummer of 25 + years playing.
