It is perfect for me , the book does not assume you have a weber bbq of any sort but approaches the whole business of the Barbequing very methodically and clearly and assumes no prior knowledge. It covers the types of BBQ , how to prepare and maintain each type and discusses pros and cons of each one. It then moves on to cover each of the food types one by one such as red meat, pork, poultry, fish, fruit, and veg with each section giving details of key 'how to' features (e.g. ' how to cook steak' 'how to cook burgers' recipes but also key instructions on how long to cook each type for, and FSA recommendations etc. In addition it has a great resource section covering marinades, sauces, and rubs and summary tables for each food type of cooking times for say burgers, steaks, pork chops which being a bit new to the art I find really useful and reassuring. The author explains the how and more importantly why very clearly ( e.g. differences between direct heat, and indirect heat and why some meats use each method, what is low, medium and high heat) and although we are new to the BBQ we have used this book for our last 5 barbeques, with the wife making home made marinades and its honestly some of the best BBQ food I've tasted ...and if the book can do that with my cooking skills trust me that makes it well worth money. Thoroughly recommend this before buying a BBQ and absolutely endorse its use thereafter

Great book, pic heavy recipes and instructions
Bought this book as a gift for my boyfriend and it's perfect. It's well sectioned with colour coded pages so you can easily find the section you want. It starts with bbq'ing instructions and info on equipment which is great for beginners, and has a wide range of tasty recipes for a range of meats, veggies and deserts. Excellent BBQ resource/reference
I've used simple kettle Weber BBQs for many years but haven't really tried to 'go to the next level'. This well illustrated book contains plenty of good general information about the best types of food to BBQ as well as some instructions about useful equipment to have at hand and techniques such as smoking/steaming. The range of recipies is good & well organised, but I found some of them to be US-based, relying on types of chilllies etc. that are not easily available in the UK. Most are fine, and well illustrated.

Completely Brilliant Barbecue Book
Do you sometimes really struggle to find a nice present for your man? This excellent book is just the job and has had my fella captivated since he tore off the wrapper. What is it about blokes and barbecues? Mine takes his very seriously and so this serious book giving detailed instructions on how to barbecue successfully is a winner. It is beautifully designed with lovely photos showing techniques step-by-step so that you really couldn't get it wrong whether cooking with gas or charcoal. Seven sections cover everything you could ever need to know about barbecuing from the basics (with Q&As including what to do if you get a flare up), red meat, pork and poultry as well as seafood, vegetables and fruit. There are 150 recipes and cooking times even giving guidance according to thickness of meat. It is exceptionally well thought out. So, I know you are asking, would my man give it as good a review as me? Honestly, no because he couldn't be bothered to sit down and type it BUT the fact that he ordered one to give to his bezzy mate for his birthday says it all, doesn't it?

Great book for beginners and pros - husband loved it
Bought this as a treat for my husband as he's getting into barbecuing. It's split into sections for red meat, chicken, pork, seafood, fruit, veg and then 'resources' which is sauces and marinades. It also has a section on how to heat your bbq properly, different ways to lay out woodchips etc. It is overall a really great book that has everything you need in it to get started but also some awesome recipes so great for a pro as well, not necessarily a beginner. For the price of ยฃ10 (when I paid for it anyway) I was pleasantly surprised at how big it is - I was thinking it would be a glossy paperback style book but it's a big thick hardback book with tons in it! Needless to say my husband was up until the early hours in bed reading this as he was so engrossed in it and happy.

Excellent and informative book
After using charcoal bbqโs for over 40 years, we recently purchased a GAS bbq, we had no idea how different this would be to cooking on charcoal or wood bbq. This book is excellent for newbie to gas bbq, very informative, excellent instructions how to use a gas bbq all year round, Whilst my household cooker is gas, I had no idea regarding the 4 burners, wether to use the lid or not, the book covers all the items I was concerned about, timings, which burner to use, not to use, and how to get up to temperature , I love cooking, making up my own recipes, this book has so many recipes and ideas . It basically covers all requirements for my new OUTBACK gas bbq. Well worth the money, Highly recommend

V useful, bit dated illustration
This is a great book. Certainly very useful if more a novice or looking to get into more advanced BBQ techniques. Big sections covering quite basic things but useful to refer to when you feel you need to, like a haynes manual. My favourite section is the dry rub and marinade section, that's great. Other books will be better illustrated, this is a bit text book, but east to use.
